For you to say that the principled positions of a large number of conservatives is a "personal agenda" is intellectually dishonest.

Also, I disagree with your 91 and 9 percent figures. Conservatives make up more than half of the party, and it's entirely possible that half of those are extremely upset by the non-conservative positions of this administration. If you want to assume that only 9% will stay home, that would still lose him the election, wouldn't it?

As a business, if you were struggling and you lost 9% of your market due to decisions you made, you wouldn't examine your decisions and make some changes? You might as well order the For Sale signs now.

GWB's non-defense discretionary spending is a greater percentage of GDP than Reagan's was, in Reagan's last four budgets.

Bush has had only one year to make such a comparison and that one year includes about a 20 billion dollar increase for homeland defense that IS part of "domestic" spending as listed by the CBO. And even if you DO count in that 20 billion increase, Bushs 2002 spending of 3.5% is lower than Reagans 3.9% in 1982.
