I'm a creationist and I believe that God created the animals that are now carnivores.
I'm not sure they were carnivores at that time, but there's a good case that can be made that they were.
One, even Adam had not eaten of the tree of life so that he would live forever. That is why the way to the tree of life was blocked for him.
Also, he was warned that the day in which he would eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil would be the day wherein he would die.
This implies that Adam had some idea of what "die" meant.
Since animals weren't considered as candidates for ruling the world, and they populated the world, it wouldn't be an unacceptable logic to think that only Adam had the promise of eternal life and that animals did not.

Right which many freepers think animals have no promise of eternal life, I think there is evidence showing that they do...

I've always thought that Genesis was meant to describe who created everything, not give a detailed account of what, how, why, and so on. You bring up an interesting point though. To me there is no question that God did create the carnivores. When he created them, or at what point they began eating meat may be up for some debate - but in the end I don't suppose it really matters anyway.

All of the above references are post-Fall. There is no reason why the "carnivorous" "apparatus" could not have been in the DNA before the Fall...and "loosed" after the Fall.

Ive been meaning to response to your post but haven't had the time. I think you post some very interesting articles. I know from time to time you certainly have gotten zapped by some of our Freepers brethern. (Especially for that Mars thingy)
God created the Garden of Eden and place Adam in it to cultivate it. (Gen 2:15) The only ones in Eden as recorded in Genesis is Adam, Eve, the serpent and God although it talks about beast of the fields and birds of the air whom Adam named and one can only assume that they too existed in Eden in harmony. (I had a good verse on how they only ate grain but cant find it now.) How long Adam was in Eden is pure speculation.
It is my belief that Adam lived in the Eden environment while the world was evolving outside. Hence the answer to xzins question; How did Adam know what dying was? he could see the process taking place outside the Garden. When God cast Adam out of Eden and into this hostile environment God created, I think this was to fulfill the curse which God foreknew or predestined (take your choice).
I'm not sure if animals had eternal life before the fall in Eden or if they will have it after the restoration. There is no mention of that in the scriptures. God's gift to man of eternal life is special and is acquired only by our asking our Lord Jesus Christ to take away our sins. I'm not sure how this would apply with animals.
God promises a new Heaven and a new Earth and we will reign with Him. Pure speculation on my part but I believe this new Earth will be a worldwide Eden where all things will once again live in harmony including animals. Consider the proverb:
A righteous man has regard for the life of his animal, but even the compassion of the wicked is cruel. Proverbs 12:10
God loves all His creation and someday soon He will restore the balance of the universe.

Really intriguing thoughts, HD.
I'd never thought of having the Garden be a "Safe Zone" within a created world that had different rules going on outside the "Garden" than were happening "inside" the garden.
Thanks. This is the kind of stuff that stirs up new ideas. I can think of a couple of directions to go with this. (PM -- what do you think?)
