Judy Flies In to Boost Hubby Howard

WASHINGTON, Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Judith Steinberg Dean flew into Davenport Airport, Iowa, Sunday to boost her husband Howard's faltering campaign.

The weather was chilling Arctic cold but Mrs. Dean, dressed stylishly in blue, wore no overcoat as she hurried to the campaign bus from her plane alongside her husband, former Vermont Governor Howard Dean.

Mrs. Dean will be appearing alongside Dean at campaign appearances in Davenport, Cedar Rapids and Iowa City before flying home. She will not remain in Iowa to campaign with him on Monday because she has patients she is scheduled to see in her medical practice, a Dean campaign official told United Press International.

Cool, she freed up an afternoon to help her husband in his bid to be President of the United States! Then she's returning home to practice medicine.

Even my rural family doctor had somebody who could cover for him to take time off.

This is interesting. Is she being dragooned because Howard is behind? Or, is this a long-planned appearance to negate those who wonder where she is, keeping her form the press until the last minute so that she can't make any faux pas?

Golly, Dean is desperate! I still can't fathom Kerry's surge, or Edwards' either, for that matter. Where is our boy, Al, in the polls? I'm afraid Hitlery will be their white knight when all is said and done, though. We'll have to figure out a way to tell the truth about her in campaign ads without being called mean and nasty and negative.

Good question..... I have no idea.... But I'd lay odds that it has been planned so that they could be together the night of the caucus returns.... It may have been stepped up a day or two since it was questioned about her not being on the campaign trail. However I don't see a lot of others dragging their wifes to events all over Iowa either.. Maybe they do and I'm not seeing it as I rarely watch tv news on the campaigns...
