PASADENA, Calif., Jan. 18 (UPI) -- On the 10th anniversary of California's devastating Northridge earthquake, seismic experts in Pasadena announced they believe "the big one" is on its way.
Scientists said there's a good chance a catastrophic earthquake will hit Southern California within the next 200 years, the Los Angeles Daily News reported Sunday.
Many of the audience members at the earthquake anniversary event sponsored Saturday by Caltech and the U.S. Geological Survey, were survivors of the 1994 quake, which was the most expensive disaster in U.S. history, the Daily News said.
Registering 6.4 on the Richter scale, the quake killed 57 people, injured 12,000 and caused over $40 billion in damages.
Southern California averages nine miniscule 2.0 magnitude earthquakes a day and one 3.0 magnitude quake that some people can feel, the experts said.

Scientists said there's a good chance a catastrophic earthquake will hit Southern California How long did it take them to figure that one out?
And how much of my tax money did they waste doing it?

Does this mean the price of beach front property in PASADENA will be falling.
I mean news like this will start a panic.

The next 200 years, huh? Don't go out on a limb or nothin'... It is sort of like predicting the end of the world. If you keep doing it, at some point you are bound to get it right.

"Ya and within 200 years we will be hit by the nastiest cold spell in history."
Or the nastiest heat wave. The earth is either getting colder or hotter. Either way, it's man's fault. Now, if we can just blame the earthquakes on industrial development.

Yes it does, but in a gniess way.

Does this mean the price of beach front property in PASADENA will be falling. You are still way too far west. Smart investors are putting their money into future beach front real estate in Barstow.

Since they are daring to go out on a limb, so shall I:
I will be dead within the next 200 years.

Registering 6.4 on the Richter scale I believe it was 6.7, not 6.4.
