Jan. 18 (Bloomberg) -- Germany faces an ``immediate threat'' of terrorist attacks, the Welt am Sonntag newspaper said, citing a report by Western secret services.
Germany is ``within the spectrum of targets of Islamic terrorism and not just a retreat anymore'' for members of terrorist groups, the newspaper cited the report as saying.

GOOD? Think again. US Military installations in Germany are among the likely targets.

The only problem with attacking US military installations is they fire back. They will act like muslims and target women and children!!

US military facilities in Germany are protected by the German Army. It´s called "host nation support". I bet they´ll fire back... but how many hits does a car bomb need until it goes home?

Think of it like this... What is your response to another persons problems when all of a sudden it's your ass on the line, i.e. Germany's...
From my perspective (from my limited base of knowledge) Germany was one of those countries terrorists used to plan and recruit in.
When it came time for Germany to throw in their lot with the US, they remained opposed. In this war on terrorism, there is no such thing as taking a neutral position... fence sitters will eventually fall off to one side or the other, if the threat of a serious threat of a terror attack causes them to fall off and get with the program, I say GOOD!

Good! Why is this good jackass? I have family in Germany.

When it came time for Germany to throw in their lot with the US, they remained opposed. Germany invoked article 5 of the NATO charter. They are on the ground in Afghanistan as we speak. Boots on the ground means nothing to you? There are plenty of conservatives right here on this forum who don't believe making war on Saddam was the right thing to do nor do they believe it constitutes part of the war on terror.
Where did Mohammed Atta learn to fly planes? The USA is where. They train and recruit in our own country, does this mean you hope we get attacked again as well? There are a lot of radicals in Great Britain too. You want the Brits to get attacked?

I don't think you read the post correctly. The US bases in Germany would be a prime target for terrorists to attack. In fact, the American folks living and working on those bases probably have more to fear than the average German citizens.
My father had been stationed their twice and from what I can remember about those bases, it wouldn't be very hard for terrorists to actually achieve their objective.

What's with the name calling, my position is rational with emotion... Look at it this... What is your response to another persons problems when all of a sudden it's your ass on the line, i.e. Germany's...
From my perspective (i.e. from my base of knowledge gleened from websites such as this one and others, which is to say you probably don't have any better sources for real news thatn I do) Germany was one of those countries terrorists used to plan and recruit in.

Maybe you could tell me what you think I should be like... since you don't know anything about me... and what the hell is Prodigal Son? You bragging that you are one or bragging that you were one... do I challenge your sentiments or something?
To: Godfollow
Germany was one of those countries terrorists used to plan and recruit in. And so was the United States and Britain. The same standard should, therefore, apply.
What's with the name calling,
My family is in Germany. The thread is about the threat of a terrorist attack on Germany. You say "Good". You don't understand?
When it came time for Germany to throw in their lot with the US, they remained opposed.
No, they didn't. They are in Afghanistan as we speak. Yes or no? They invoked Chapter 5 of the NATO Charter and they participated in our operation in Afghanistan and they continue to do so. They continue to patrol the Horn of Africa with their navy in support of the war on terror.
Get your facts straight.
if the threat of a serious threat of a terror attack causes them to fall off and get with the program, I say GOOD!
Hmmm. Maybe one could use this same argument to say it was good that America got attacked on 9/11 to get it off the fence about terrorism. We were attacked repeatedly by bin Laden pre-9/11 and did nothing. Our lackadaisical attitude towards getting tough on terror emboldened bin Laden.
Think about it.

since you don't know anything about me... I know you what you said.
and what the hell is Prodigal Son?
A name?
To: Arpege92
Look... nobody here is wishing catastrophe on anyone... the point is, Germany the Nation, the Government went way out of their way to block the US in removing the biggest threat to the security of the West, next to OSB.
If the threat, of a serious threat of a terror attack, causes Germany to begin to see this war on terrorism from our perspective, I say GOOD!
There is nothing wishful on my part that any such thing occur. But, damet, we have suffered greatly because of their unwillingness to help remove Saddam. Maybe if only one of the three, France, Germany, or Russia would have gotten behind us, there may not have even been a war. But they didn't, and we have lost 500 Americans so far. So I say Good, drag their asses in. If such sentiment is so difficult so understand, then perhaps Germany or France or Russia is where you belong.
To: Godfollow
Maybe if only one of the three, France, Germany, or Russia would have gotten behind us, there may not have even been a war. I don't buy that for a second. Saddam was never going to step down. Look, the Iraqi war started in 1990. It never stopped. It has never stopped since then. This is the closing act.
Why does Germany's willingness to support the US in the WOT mean nothing to you?
You realize not all conservatives or even all freepers believe Saddam was a theat to our nation, right?
