CRANSTON - - Major General Reginald A. Centracchio, The Adjutant General of Rhode Island and the Commanding General of the Rhode Island National Guard, announced today that on Sunday, 18 January 2004, 45 members of the Rhode Island National Guard will join other National Guard troops from Connecticut and Massachusetts at the AFC Championship Game at Gillette Stadium. These troops will attend the game in recognition of their service to their country.

The tickets were donated by the NFL and the New England Patriots through Operation Tribute to Freedom, a continuing campaign to ensure members of the U.S. Armed Forces are recognized by the American people for their accomplishments and sacrifices. Operation Tribute to Freedom, which is based at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., distributed the tickets to a PRE-SELECTED list of service members in the Southern New England area.

Additionally, 25 members from both the Rhode Island and Connecticut National Guard will hold a gigantic American flag on the field during the National Anthem. “This is an outstanding and well deserved honor for our troops,” stated MG Centracchio. “We are grateful to both the NFL, the New England Patriots and Operation Tribute to Freedom for their generous efforts in recognizing the sacrifices our troops make on behalf of all of us!”

Better add 2003 to that!

BTW, the logo is affectionately known as the Flying Elvis!

Their defense is known as the Homeland Security, too.

Snow in the forecast for Foxboro. Advantage Patriots!

It won't be a white-out like that famous game against Oakland, but any snow is good for the Patriots.

I can't wait for this game to start, and I football is not even my favorite spectator sport. But the Brady-Manning matchup is just too good to miss.

I even bought a Pats jersey (Bruschi #54) to wear to the party. Prediction: Bruschi gets 2 interceptions (one for a TD) and at least one sack during a blitz.

Peyton Manning is shredding defenses left and right. Just ask the Broncos and the Chiefs.

Despite the fact that Manning "shredded" the Chiefs' defense, they still only won by a touchdown. That's because the Colts defense got "shredded" too. The Chiefs didn't have to punt the ball either. As for the Broncos, they were pathetic on defense too. Four of them stood around arguing with each other while one of the Colts receivers got up after making a catch, dusted himself off, and walked in for a touchdown. This kind of nonsense isn't going to happen with the Pats.

Trivia Time!

There are 15 teams in the NFL named after animals:

But only ONCE did two "animals" face off in the Superbowl.

Who?

Ya you're right... I think the Bills are named after "Buffalo" Bill Cody - who only killed animals.

So scratch that... 14 outta 32 teams are animals.
