Bush ran on this in the 2000 election; you just didn't notice or didn't pay enough attention.

Yes, and the first thing we did as a group in FR was Freep his immigration amnesty, and he dropped it like a hot potatoe. So now what is his excuse? Why does he think he can get away with it again?

George W. Bush's Yearly Job Approval Ratings
% "Approve"

Bush's third-year average is middling when compared to other presidents' third-year scores. Since the Truman presidency, four presidents have had higher third-year averages than Bush: Dwight Eisenhower (72%), John Kennedy (62%), Lyndon Johnson (65%), and the elder George Bush (70%). Six recent presidents have had lower averages than the current president: Harry Truman (58%), Richard Nixon (50%), Gerald Ford (49%), Jimmy Carter (37%), Ronald Reagan (45%), and Clinton (47%).

Of the presidents whose fourth year in office coincided with their re-election bid, Eisenhower, Nixon, Reagan, and Clinton won second terms in office, while Carter and the elder Bush were unsuccessful in their attempts. Bush therefore begins his re-election year in better shape than most recent incumbents.

Maybe he's worried that the Republican Party will lose the coveted nickname of "The Stupid Party".

I'm a relative newcomer to FR (started lurking 2001/writing 2003) so I don't have a clear history of FR activism before the aforementioned time. If what you say is true, I am much more disappointed with GWB&co..

JM*useless*O, RINO/CINO freeper's comments about "conservatives" would easliy transpose on the name of one Ronald Reagan in 1976 and pre-convention 1980. Seems as if Bush did a Jeffords, the RINO/CINO freepers would be confused wondering why their shepherd left the flock. But who listens to me? I'm just a conservative constitutionalist. Seems on occasion that I'm below pond scum on the FR and with the POTUS/LOTUS/SCOTUS.

(sobbing like a girly-boy) I've got to go, my self-esteem is crushed!

Having been in this "group in FR" for some time, I must have missed when "we" did that.

You're kidding yourself if you think that complaints by FReepers caused Bush to drop his plans for the temp worker program. He's been promoting the basic idea in public since at least 1999, and continued to promote the idea ever since. There was a pullback from pushing the plan in the aftermath of 9/11, of course, but that clearly had squat to do with FR.

PS After Quayle, all good conservatives should know better when it comes to spelling potato. ;)

Please explain, in detail ( and pull up the thread, which called for such a FREEP and CCP it to this one)when and WHERE this FREEP took place.

IF, as you claim, it was the FIRST organized FREEP, after FR was formed, then please explain why you FREEPED then GOVERNOR of TEXAS Bush on a " national " (?) policy position when Clinton was president.

If, OTOH ( see, I'm giving you an " out " ) you're claiming that you FREEPED him, with a group from here, when he was CANDIDATE Bush, then it's an outright LIE , that that FREEP was the FIRST of all FREEPS, after this site was formed.
