"The big news has been on the "Bush lied" flurry of stories that may have gained a bit of traction. The last poll put out that mentioned illegal immigration had it about 6th in voter concerns. Who knows?"

WE know.

Let's face it. The only story in a in a cycle of a "flurry of stories" that could have affected these poll numbers was the President's ill-advised Amnesty Plan For Illegals.

This issue will NOT go away soon.

Question on fighting Hitlery: What would you think of Tom Ridge as the nominee in 2008? Former Marine, Earned a full scholarship to Harvard and graduated cum laude. If Homeland security isn't violated by any more spectacular terrorist attacks, could he be the one?

George W. Bush's Yearly Job Approval Ratings
% "Approve"

Bush's third-year average is middling when compared to other presidents' third-year scores. Since the Truman presidency, four presidents have had higher third-year averages than Bush: Dwight Eisenhower (72%), John Kennedy (62%), Lyndon Johnson (65%), and the elder George Bush (70%). Six recent presidents have had lower averages than the current president: Harry Truman (58%), Richard Nixon (50%), Gerald Ford (49%), Jimmy Carter (37%), Ronald Reagan (45%), and Clinton (47%).

Of the presidents whose fourth year in office coincided with their re-election bid, Eisenhower, Nixon, Reagan, and Clinton won second terms in office, while Carter and the elder Bush were unsuccessful in their attempts. Bush therefore begins his re-election year in better shape than most recent incumbents.

And CA is usually about 7-10% against the President and has been since the beginning.

Bush abandoned you like hell. He sure hasn't abandoned me. That immigration proposal is no big deal. It does not permit or encourage a single additional illegal immigrant. Just the opposite. But good elect Dean, Kerry, Clark, Kucinich or any other left wing idiot you want. You'll sure have taught George Bush a lesson. And screwed yoursdelf and this country in the process. Sorry, it's too late for me to be diplomatic. Cic, the door!

Thanks for sharing that. Now, let's apply a bit of logic here. The last quarterly poll had Bush at 53.7%. Shortly after that Saddam was captured and his approval went to 57%. No immigration plan had been announced. Event driven bounces dissipate fairly quickly, just ask Bush 1. Now this quarter’s poll shows a 4% drop, the same percentage of the capture Bounce and Bush is back down to the same 53% he had in October and this is AFTER the immigration plan was announced. So Bush has neither gained nor lost support on immigration and the Gallup analysis is that the drop was the result of the loss of the capture bounce. I know logic is hard to apply to an agenda based on getting rid of this president but I thought I would try.

You apparently think GW is just a puppet of some shadow group of international businessmen.

Yes I do. ANd the facts bear me out. Can you give me a decent answer as to why we continue to export so many American jobs and import workers with so many Americans being unemployed or employed in minimum wage service jobs? He shows nothing but contempt for the American worker, the American taxpayer and nothing but praise for Corporations betraying this nation.

Just keep right on, delusionally imagining this codswallop and crying in your beer, because you aren't getting what you DEMAND, without acknowledging reality in any way, shape, manner, or form. You and your ilk will become totally irrelevant, just as the PURISTS, did, in California's recall election/election. LOL

My post #31 is actually directed at the Bush haters.

Williams, I am right there in agreement with you about Bush.

He most definately has my full support for re-election.

My ex-husband is a high ranking border patrol official, working with a counter-terrorism and high intensity drug trafficking task force. He says the immigration proposal will be the best thing that has happened to immigration in years and the benefit to our Homeland Security will be immense.

But those here on FR that are just skulking around, sniffing out any thread that they can b***h and moan about this garbage, don't care what the experts like my ex-husband says about it.

He has refused to uphold the constitutionally valid immigration laws - and is attempting an end-around.

I'm sure you can expand on that and explain how -- or are you parroting a line? By proposing to congress that they ammend the laws he is not violating the constitution ONE IOTA. If congress amends the laws and they are held to be constitutional then what will you say -- or do you not believe in our constitutional process?

I think the immigration statement hurt his number. I hope he gets those numbers back up in the mid to high 50s. Remember, though, TheBentOne had MUCH lower numbers and still won re-election handily.

Possible result of pandering to criminal aliens?

Possible. It could also be the result of pandering to DemocRATS by letting them write spending bills. It could be the result of pandering to self-absorbed blue-hairs by subsidizing their viagra habit. It could be the result of pandering to America-hating Muslims by inviting to the White House for an end-of-Ramadan feast.

It could be the result of pandering to a lot of voting blocs who would sooner stick a flaming stick in your eye than vote for you, but hey!, there's no shame in being a one-term President.
