Yup! There are issues that I support and issues I am embarrassed to see such as bloated education budget written by U-Boat Teddy and billions that will fund little Khalid's visit to the AIDS clinic in Nigeria (in your dreams sucker), etc.. Also, the list neglects to mention CFR, ONE TRILLION DOLLAR NEW ENTITLEMENT PROGRAM of Medi-scripts, Bush's unwillingness to force senate up or down vote on judicial nominees, and ILLEGAL immigration control, AND MAY I ADD BUSH'S SORRY BEHAVIOR TOWARD ISRAEL'S TERROR PROBLEMS.
I am of the opinion that Bush (and his supporters on this thread) should consider the lessons learned in the SC primary when John McCAin was upended by the conservative base supporting Bush. You all seem mouthy toward conservatives but conservatives saved Bush's rear. You all forget that if the conservatives sat home it would have been McCain and Gore. And that's an ugly thought!
I'm conservative. I do not like Buchanan. I think Keyes is a joke. I know politics is a ruthless game of give and take. I stick by my observation that the political system in the USA is changing and the future is on this thread. Bush better get wise beety eyes!

Judging from your posts, I'm quite content for someone of your persuasions to call me a hypocrite.

Politics is the realm of the possible. NO president and no person is perfect. It isn't voting the lesser of two evils at all and there still ARE massive differences between the GOP and the Dems
My conservo-meter is my ability to read posts, comprehend the written English word, and my ability to separate those who have an inkling of what's actually at stake and those who don't; those who see reality as it is and those who live in some delusional world.
Children and Liberals talk about what's " FAIR " and what's not, they also want instant gratification ( though admittedly, Dems/Liberals, to some extent, are far less demanding of that immediacy, than the UNAPPEASABLE Conservatives are ! ),and don't ever bother to think about the consequences, the for REAL consequences of their actions.
Didn't the '92 election TEACH you guys anything ?
How about 9/11/01 ?
Still fence sitting or off the fence completely ? Then ponder what some call " scare tactics ", but is just the simple truth....what IF President Bush isn't reelected and the GOP looses seats; then what ? Will everything that you rail about P:resident Bush get fixed to your liking ?
How wonderfully well did those " principled " votes for old crazy Ross ( or staying home, or a vote for someone else ) keep the people who caste them, in the throws of the Clinton presidency ?
What I'm talking about, is nothing at all, even remotely akin to your anecdotal little quip about some business guy.
And my self preservation bon mote, is in regards to the terrorism we shall continue to face...with or without President Bush at the helm of the ship of state.

I agree with you.

Well then .. get on congress's case, instead of dumping it all on President Bush
I agree with many of the things you point out .. I just have a different way of trying to fix it.
And voting for a Dem sure ain't gonna fix it (I'm not saying you would, just saying in general)

What happened to eliminating entire departments? In this political system, a President and his party need a mandate from the people. The Country has been too divided for any candidate to raise the issue. Johnson had a mandate and we are paying for it in spades.
To: Howlin
Last Zogby poll I saw (not sure if his stuff is any good these days) was 76% of Republicans "definately" support Bush. But then again, the word "definately" is probably the difference between the 76% and the 91% of "support".
Polls this far out are still just a guess. But as long as Bush keeps a 53-57% approval rating, he's in.

When did I say I demanded Bush enact my every whim? I clearly said this is what I WISHED and would like to see. What's the difference?
And can you tell us who your candidate is that will preside over this perfect, all encompassing presidency?

True, all too true and it's galling, that the UNAPPEASABLES here, would rather sink President Bush, than face a Dean, or Kerry, or whomever presidency. :-(
To: Howlin
I'm very calm.
But I guess this thread and forum is no longer about expressing opinions.

Way to go wackjob. You may say that but there are those around here that would love nothing more. When people advocate, bounties, mining the border, shoot and shovel, citizen "posse's", all proposals that have been posted over the last week to 10 days, then there is more than a little "whack job" at play.
To: Fledermaus
I don't give a damn what Zogby says.
This is what the New York Times says:
The first result is that the Republican Party is more unified than ever before. Ninety-one percent of Republicans approve of the job President Bush is doing. In 1992, Bush's father didn't have anything like that level of support, and even the Reagan administration was split between so-called pragmatists and ideologues.
Today's Republicans not only like Bush personally, they also overwhelmingly support his policies. According to a Pew Center study, 85 percent of Republicans support the war in Iraq, 82 percent believe that pre-emptive war is justified, and 72 percent believe the U.S. is justified in holding terror suspects without trial.
THE NEW YORK TIMES!!!!!

How many times and ways are there to say you all don't like Bush and wish somebody else would be elected?

How wonderfully well did those " principled " votes for old crazy Ross ( or staying home, or a vote for someone else ) keep the people who caste them, in the throws of the Clinton presidency ? Well it worked well for China .. Clinton sold them our nukes
And the thought of Clark or Dean or Kerry in office scare the hell out of me .. especially after 9/11

Sully, apparently you are of the opinion that "conservatives" fall into a neat little package of your wrapping.
Not so. It will surprise you to know that I am likely more to the Right than you are, were I to have my way. Sorry, I vote for the Republican every time. Straight GOP ticket.
Democrats are the enemy within and any third party candidate is a vote-splitter, a maturbatory and wasted vote.
Stakes are too high to play "pouting child" --- politics is rough and dirty. Played by grown-ups who vote for the best VIABLE candidate, not some pie-in-the-sky egotist.
It's our choice, Sully, Bush or the democrat. Couldn't be easier or more clear.

Geez, what is the problem with you and Howlin? I wasn't DUMPING ON BUSH.
I stated my opinion and both of you pointed out how I should take it up with Congress! I WAS! I didn't say, "it's Bush's fault Congress isn't doing this or that" except to say it would help if the threatened a veto every now and then.
I stated what I don't like and what I did. And in my first long post I simply asked why it's wrong to state those opinions without being taken to task. I guess it isn't.
Good night. Have a nice life.
