I wouldn't expect his numbers to be sinking, with an improving economy and things going well in Iraq. I think the American People are finally getting this guy's number....and it is about time. Though anyone following Bush closely KNEW his Pro-Illegal Immigration position, the greater public did not. It's all out there now including Bush's "Employer/Employee" matching sounding very much like every American job being put up for bid on the global market and the specter of unlimited immigration.
Bush's positions on One Way Trade deals and Job Outsourcing are not helping him either. With all the other big spending Socialist Garbage George Bush has signed on to this will be a close race. And a demoralized conservative base does not help him here.

just talked to rank and file agents in the San Diego Sector who said illegal entries SOARED on the day Bush announced the proposal. LOL. You use that poll just like you are trying to use this poll. Hoping others are as ignorant as you and will equate the two for massive loss of support of Bush over a single issue. That poll was the FR views of a single issue. NOT a damned referendum on George Bush. You are on freerepublic and you are in over your head trying to pull that bait and switch. You are nowhere near good enough to pull it off.

Good post Jim.
Yes, I am a conservative on many issues, but I don't wear my politics on my sleeve or try to prove I am more to the right of the next guy.
And my decision not to vote for the guy has nothing to do with him not being 'conservative' enough.
My problem with GWB is that he is not doing his job; he is not securing our borders.
The under- and overbellies of our country, our borders, are sieves, and GWB is doing nothing to secure them.
And I believe the reason is political, I can find no other rational explanation.
When the President of the United States ignores a great vulnerability in our security, I cannot in good conscience support him.

"...Yes I do. ANd the facts bear me out. Can you give me a decent answer as to why we continue to export so many American jobs..."
OK, I see where you're coming from. The Union Left Wing of the democrat party. Or maybe the anti-free trade group of Buchananites. Bush didn't need your vote in 2000, and he won't need it in '04 either. I'll tell you one thing, all that business bashing makes you sound like a socialist. Ever gotten a job from a poor person, comrade? Got a problem with freedom for businesses too? Fine, write your congressman, and tell him/her that you want to make it illegal, and see how far you get. Bush can't cure the problems you describe. Period. Nor has he been encouraging them. And the American Taxpayer owes him a great debt of gratitude, twice over. And what's all this crap about minimum wage service jobs? Getting your talking points from Terry McAuliff?

I'd just like to see them get auto insurance. Our rates here in Texas are unbelievably high because of all the unlicensed aliens driving around without insurance. I had to take my kid to traffic court today and sat through about a dozen no insurance cases being dealt with. The illegal aliens are here and need to be dealt with somehow. If anybody thinks that our government is capable of deporting the 4-12 million illegals now in our country, I want some of whatever happy pill you are taking. BTW nobody was asking the people in court for proof of their immigration status.

What on earth are you talking about? Bush ran as a center-right candidate with some pro-life views. The conservatives stuck with him then. But ever since the initial tax cut, his fiscal policy has been mainstream Democrat. Not only that, but he has been counterproductive on immigration. He needs to throw us a bone every once in a while.
To: texasflower
Did any of you even bother to read the article? If not, you should. It appears some of you may be getting all excited about a "decline" for nothing.Your glee is astounding.
They sound exactly like these left-wing DU wretches who get all excited about any drop in Bush's polls numbers, HOPING it corresponds to some current issue they are personally ripping him about.

That poll was the FR views of a single issue. NOT a damned referendum on George Bush. Might I add that the poll was up AT THE SAME MOMENT BUSH gave his speech. The hysteria on this place was intoxicating -- even I voted NO and I support Bush's right to speak and suggest proposals to Congress. :)

"Notice he hasn't breathed a WORD of it lately, at least that I have heard. IMHO, that has to be the most glaring political gaffe since Clinton said
Dubya and Co. obviously can NOT believe the torch and pitchfork reaction this blunder has caused within the GOP.
You know -- you just may be right about the Clinton "I-did-not-have-sex..." analogy. I was stunned then by Bubba's stupidity, and I am just as stunned now by Dubya's.

All I was trying to do is give a viewpoint from someone that actually knows what is going on and why.
It wasn't necessary for you to insult me.
I will tell you as I told your buddy, who also has chosen to insult me personally...I don't care to argue with you.
Good night and take care.
