Should Saddam Hussein be executed?
Poll being conducted by San Francisco PBS TV station KQED.
Know that if you answer YES, you will be asked:
Are you sure?....and asked to vote it up or down again. If you vote YES, you will be asked:
What if you knew that the United Nations (UN), the European Union (EU), and many of the world's spiritual and political leaders are opposed to the death penalty?.....and asked to vote it up or down again. If you vote YES, you will be asked:
What if you knew that most international human rights organizations oppose the death penalty and some Iraqis do not want Saddam Hussein to be executed?......and asked to vote it up or down again. If you vote YES, you will be asked:
What if you knew that some argue killing Saddam would create a martyr and could inspire further terrorism?......and asked to vote it up or down again. If you vote YES, you will be asked:
What if you knew that some argue only a trial by the International Criminal Court, which does not allow the death penalty, would fairly review all the evidence, including Saddam's past relationship with the United States and other countries??
THE VOTE TALLY IS NOW OVERWHELMINGLY AGAINST INSANE'S EXECUTION.
What say you???

If a person is deemed to not be able to live in society any more, why do we consider life in prison? How inhumane is it to lock someone up in a prison for the rest of their lives. Usually the same people who insist on locking people up forever complain about zoo and circus animals being kept in cages. It is all hypocrisy.

I gave a "no" answer at one step and got a screenful of argument for execution. I haven't looked at all the arguments they laid out, nor compared the anti vs. the pro arguments, but the approach seems a step better than just "yes" or "no."

Ya'll seem to have missed something...
"Think you know where you stand on this issue? During the course of this activity, we will ask you four more times: Should Saddam Hussein be executed? Based on your responses, we will argue the opposite points of view. Only your final vote will count toward the results of this poll."

Horrors of Saddam now being broadcast on the History Channel. Pretty gruesome stuff. Apparently Saddam enjoyed watching tapes of his tortures so there is a big record of his crimes. He wasn't hiding it. That scumbag was actually proud of his tortures so he made full records of it including the torture. Any doubts about whether Saddam should be executed would be resolved by watching this show. I imagine there are much more torture tapes out there that will be used at his trial.
