The US military awarded two contracts Friday to restore Iraq's oil infrastructure to pre-war levels, the largest one worth up to 1.2 billion dollars going to Halliburton subsidiary Kellogg Brown and Root. The contracts were awarded by the US Army Corps of Engineers even as the Pentagon's inspector general was considering whether to launch an investigation into an earlier Iraq oil contract awarded to Kellogg, Brown and Root.
The Halliburton subsidiary was contracted to restore oil fields and installations in southern Iraq to pre-war levels under the contract awarded Friday, which had a minimum value of 500,000 dollars and a maximum of 1.2 billion dollars.

Well considering that the only other company that does what Brown and Root does is a French company that is 80% owned by Haliburton (according to Best of the Web,I think), this was a no brainer.

Damn! My neighbor, his sons and I wanted to put in a bid on this one. I know it's a pretty big job but we all have pickup trucks.

I imagine the nearly extinct spotted donkey will emerge from its underground lair tonight. You will be able to hear its distinctive and repetitive mating call "crrrooniees.. crrrooonies..."
