It is an interesting idea, but it won't happen.

I recall Cheney as SecDef cancelling the A-12 and thought at that time he had true grit.

I've admired Condoleezza Rice since her Foreign Affairs piece counselling "firmness" vis-a-vis China--

--and her knocking that POS Xiong Guangkai on his butt in person, telling him his threat to "incinerate" L.A. wasn't "helpful".

These two are smashing, testiment to our President's capacity to select key persons of uncommon talent and loyalty.

The current battle of character and morality versus polymorphous perversity and repression is an epic, Armageddon.

History is always forged in a red-hot process which sheds one-percenters as slag.

Dear President George W. Bush,

Hi. My name is F16Fighter. I ask that you rescind your proposal to reward illegal invaders to our country, make an honest commitment to sealing ALL our borders -- especially what's become our "invisible border" along Mexico.

Though many of us still regard you as a truly fine and honest man, we refuse to drink from the cauldron of magic kool-ade.

As we objectively look at issues that affect all Americans, we simply cannot fathom why you should propose such a policy which clearly undermines U.S. sovereignty, security, and confidence in your commitment to protect the American people.

On behalf of the many of us who are willing to forget this ill-advised policy was ever proposed, I ask that you rescind it immediately, and concentrate on upholding the law by deporting through a designed systematic program illegal invaders who have flouted our laws, and unrewarding these same individuals because it's best for America AND Americans. We promise to be patient for as long as this process of border law enforcement takes and we support you 100%.

Thank you again. Mr. President.

P.S. -- The next time you decide on a recess appointment, try doing it earlier in your term, and more often -- and not as another distraction (hello Mars!) during a controversy within your own Party.

ROTFL! Mars is such a nice place, you know. Stone cold dead for billions of years, but they do make good candy bars. :)

"I want Dr. Rice as VP. I want it announced Monday. Let's overturn the applecart. Bush is just freeping audacious, and wise, enough to do it. "

I love this idea.

Well, why didn't Dubya just appoint Pickering 11:59 PM in January 1, 2005 -- one year from now?

As it is, that's all Pickering has left to serve -- ONE measley year.

Ahhhh c'mon fighter,

Don't be like that.

This is the "shut up and toe the line" crumb tossed to the conservatives by el presidente arbusto.

You should be happy, thats right HAPPY!!!!

Drink your kool-aid and quit complaining.

While I'm against recess appointments as a matter of principal, given the fact that Clinton did it, and the fact that President Bush couldn't get a senate vote on Judge Pickering, I'm really looking forward to hearing what the democrats communist party will have to say when they get to microphones...

And how many recess appointments did Clinton make, and how liberal is our judiciary because of it?

To be fair, Reagan and Bush Sr. made their share of recess appointments as well. It seems to be something of a presidental tradition.
