Vanity -- Need Freeper help

Howdy all! I need some help from my fellow FReepers. I'd like to start on some kind of daily exercise "program" (for lack of a better word). I was wondering what kind of things y'all woud recommend. Please note that, though I live on a large piece of property, my house is small; thus, I can't have big bulky exercise equipment around. My goals are to (a) lose some weight and (b) get into shape. Note, I'm not looking for a DIET. Thanks!

Body For Life.

It's a book/exercise program by Bill Phillips. It works! I lost 42 pounds last year, lowered my body fat from 37% to 19%. I'm in better shape now that I was when I was on the track team in high school (I'm 29 now).

There's a lot of weight lifting involved. I bought a little $50 weight bench at Wal-Mart and 3 or 4 different size dumbells and that's all I've needed. For my cardio I jog or ride a bike. Very simple.

There is a diet that goes along with the exercise, but it is also very simple. You just eat six small meals a day, balancing you protien and carbs (if you have a baked potato, have a piece of chicken with it, etc.) I always feel like I've had enought to eat, and I'm never hungry like all my friends that are starving themselves with Weight Watchers.

It works! I promise.

Exercise equipment is dirt cheap in the want ads. Try to find a Soloflex with leg extension device, should cost less than $125. Then do presses, squats, rows, and quad lifts.

Yep- The Charles River is frozen over- but I have seen that before. Weird to see chunks of ice in the Harbor and this really strange - not fog- but an almost smoke hanging just above the surface of the water. They cancelled school in Boston today. I went out last night at 2AM to feel what -10.2 degrees with a wind chill of -45 feels like. I lasted- fully bundled up with coat, gloves, long johns, and hat- about 5 minutes- I thought my nose was going to fall off. Your breath justs seems to hang about and even with the wind- you can see your exhales being carried away 5 feet away before it dissipates. This morning it was 5 degrees with a wind chill in the -20 or something. It was bad- but not nearly as bad as last night.

Errr, 4mycountry is 14 years old, and sounds way too bright to have started popping out babies before she's old enough to drive :-)

Hmmm. Blushing here....

Maybe she can borrow somebody else's kids....

Get into Cycling. Low impact and aerobic; you can eat all the steak and potatoes you want if you cycle 3-4 days a week, 15-25 miles per ride.

Buy a hard tail mountain bike and put hybrid tires on it. Ride it from your home to the trail, and all over town.

Buy a BOB trailer for the bike. Use the bike to do errands and train.

When you get in shape, take cycle/touring vacations. Pick any Hawaiian Island for your first trip. Circumnavigate it.

No better way to meet a culture and see the countryside.

I have 10 thousands miles of solo touring under my belt with my BOB trailer. Awesome experience and great for the body.

Good Luck

Gotta be global warming!

ARCTIC APPLE IN DEEP FREEZE

Old Man Winter is set to serve up an icy slap to New York and the Northeast today - as record temperatures that feel as frigid as 25 below zero are expected to hit the metropolitan area by this morning.

The lows, which are expected to hover near 0, could create a polar-like atmosphere, thanks to wind gusts of up to 30 mph - prompting the National Weather Service to issue a wind-chill warning that will be in effect until the late morning today.

"The morning rush hour is going to be extremely cold," said Scott Reynolds, a National Weather Service meteorologist, who added that "we're going to be very, very close" to the all-time record low for Jan. 16 of 1 degree, which was set in 1893.

The temperatures fell to 3 degrees late last night, with the wind-chill at minus 18 degrees.

So much ice was floating in the Hudson that some ferries linking New York and New Jersey couldn't make it across.

The NYPD's Aviation Unit rescued four Navy sailors whose boats were stuck in the ice off Sandy Hook, N.J., last night.

The seamen were hoisted one by one to a police helicopter and flown to Staten Island University Hospital.

Pumping iron is good for your muscles and great for your heart and mind. A Schwinn AirDyne, or any good excercise cycle gives the human body an excellent no impact aerobic work out. Walking is also a great way of getting good exercise and fresh air at the same time. If you don't have bad knees, try a regiment of walking and a little jogging.

The human body is like a well crafted machine. Use it, or lose it!

Some of these vanities makes me wonder, they span the spectrum from, which guns to buy, to which cornbread to make, yellow or white?

The authors appear computer literate, can they not take their vanities to Google? Specific key words you know, they will work wonders.

But the biggest wonderment of it all, is those whom feed the vanities, of the vanity posters.

Wow. Didn't know that. If I knew I was talking to a fourteen year old, I wouldn't have responded. We need a teenage version of FR. Either that, or an over 50 forum. LOL
