Iraqi Talent Show Head In Mosul
MOSUL, Iraq A talent exhibition, sponsored by the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) was held Jan. 14 at the Mosul Social Club in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.
This is an exercise in democracy, said Maj. John Freeburg, assistant operations officer, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). During the old regime this never would have been possible.
The talent show was one of six that will be taped and shown on local channel seven, Ninevah television.
Each episode will showcase the talents of ten contestants or groups of contestants. The sixth show will be the final competition between the winners of the previous shows.
All contestants were paid $60 by the 101st to participate in the exhibition. Acts participating included singers, poets, comedians, traditional Arabic dance groups and musicians.
Were going to show that everybody has a right to make something of themselves in the new Iraq, Freeburg said.
The final show will be taped Sunday and aired at a later date.

This may be the only time I am in favor of my tax dollars going to support "The Arts." This is one gesture of many that show that Americans are not there to kill Muslims; they are there to make the country better and leave it in the hands of the people. Bravo!

How many heads will be on display?
Will they all be victims of decapitation or merely ex post facto upon a natural death?

Actually, I think Maelstrom might have been making a joke based on the title of the article. "Iraqi Talent Show Head In Mosul". At least I HOPE it was a joke.
