Hey !! More good news !

ALL the good news is going the GOP's way today !!:

Supreme Court won't block TEXAS GOP's redistricting plan

Excerpt:

WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court refused Friday to block a hard-fought Republican redistricting plan in Texas that could cost Democrats as many as six seats in Congress.

The justices will announce later this year whether they will consider an appeal from congressional Democrats and others who claim that the map dilutes minority voting strength. In the meantime, they rejected an emergency appeal that sought to stop the state from using the new boundaries in this year's elections.

At the press conference Katherine Harris said: I want to announce my candidacy for the US Senate.......(pause for cheers & wild applause) but not yet today!

Not even her own family knew her decision until she announced. Some have said that it was the best kept secret since the President's Thanksgiving visit to the troops.

She'll most likely run in 2006 against the encumbent Dem Bill Nelson. As much as I want to see her in the Senate, I'm glad she's decided to wait until '06. If she had run this year it would have created a domino effect of many others jumping into the race for her House seat & really split up the GOP Party in Sarasota as well as the state.

In her heart she really wants to be a Senator but she's put the Party first & I believe her 'team spirit' will reap many dividends down the road.

"The Marines don't have that problem."

Well put. I wonder if Peggy Noonan had an assist with that lovely turn of phrase.

I have the books those drawings came from?

The author is a Marine named John W.Thomason, Jr

His two books are:

AND A FEW MARINES

and

FIX BAYONETS!

Stories of WWI and Haiti and Nicaragua and China and Sea Duty in the early part of the 1900's.
