Dubya showed immense class when running against Richards. At debates, she would hurl demeaning insults at him and he would always respond politely. It made him look good and her look like a foul-mouthed, bitter old fool.

I remember that -- the look on his face was priceless. What a hag she was. Do you remember that Dan Rather first called the race for Ma, then too close to call, then about five minutes before she threw in the towel, he mournfully said that GW was the winner and then asked how Texas could have defeated such a gracious woman as Gov Richards. I almost threw something at my TV. Last time I watched Rather.

What I remember about the 1994 campaign was how she ran commericals saying her "biggest job" was to be a grandmother. I think Texans wanted to help her make that a full-time career.
