The President had a very busy day today, leaving this morning for New Orleans, Louisiana, appearing first at a roundtable discussion on faith-based initiatives, then at Union Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church where he spoke to faith based and community leaders, and finally at a fundraising luncheon at the National D Day Museum.
He then traveled to Atlanta, Georgia where, accompanied by Coretta Scott King and King's daughter, Christine King Ferris, he placed a wreath on the tomb of Martin Luther King, Jr. on what would have been his 75th birthday, and this evening is at a fundraiser this evening with Democrat, Zell Miller, who will be campaigning for the Presidents reelection this year (Go, Zell!)
Enjoy this MUCH needed visit to Sanity Island as you revel in your Daily Dose of Dubya!!

One correction, Ohio. Christine King Ferris is M. L. King's sister. She can be seen in post #21, standing next to Correta. She is his last living sibling.

One of the FOX news guys interviewed people outside the church after the speech. He said the first person he talked to wasn't impressed wiht the speech, but the next two, "mature" women (as he put it), one the wife of the pastor, said they'd definitely vote for him. If he can get part of that demographic . . . WOW!

I heard that about Howard(panic attack)Dean as well. IMHO that cooks his goose, no way can we have a President who wigs out when the country needs him most. He said when the Governor died, he all of sudden realized he was responsible for 600,000 lives in Vermont, if he can't handle 600,000 lives in Vermont, how the hell is going to be able to handle 291,000,000

Hi Ohio--how are you doing?
THANKS for the great pictures, and especially the QOTD. When I heard him say those words, I was thinking they'd be great for the QOTD! You read my mind.

Not only the panic attack, but the interview reveals that he can't let his wife win at parlor games, he has issues with his father, and he is a cheapskate.
I hope he gets the nomination. Heheheh.

From the pictures of him laying the wreath, it looks like he had to walk THROUGH the water to get to the memorial!

Thank you for telling me that I thought that I was insane a few days ago. I hit the button once, and it posted twice.

Howard Dean reminds me of that one distant Cousin we all have and talk about very little :-)

***Have you read/heard about his panic attacks, on the day he became Govenor of VT?***
I assume you're talking about Dean--he actually said he had PANIC ATTACKS???? He said he TAKES STUFF to sleep???? That's VERY scary!
I have noticed a look in his eyes the last few days that I don't like--kind of a crazed look. Not stable.

Here's one for you. I know you will like this. I read an article on the Internet a few days ago; (sorry - I didn't save the link) but it contained the following paragraph. See if you can figure out who this could possibly refer to:
This is an age when people who are contributing nothing to society gain fame and fortune by denouncing those who are contributing something, because those who are contributing something are not doing so the way idle on-lookers would wish, or in a way that those ignorant of the process would consider right.

I always love these. Thanks.

Well, one really strange thing happened as I was leaving the King Center.
All of a sudden I heard someone yelling. I turned to see an elderly, black man who was gesturing wildly and yelling at the top of his voice. One thing he said was, "I thought you were dead, and you just keep showing up." Who was he yelling at? None other than BILLY MCKINNEY, Cynthia's father. For once, Billy kept his temper under control. He didn't say anything and the man slowly walked away.
But it was a very strange sight. And another thing--this week Billy announced that Cynthia will be running again for her former Congressional seat. I don't think she'll win again, but it will make for an interesting campaign. Never a dull political day in Georgia!

...[snip]if he can't handle 600,000 lives in Vermont, how the hell is going to be able to handle 291,000,000.
Exactly what I thought. Exactly what Rush said!
Dean didn't let it drop at that - he went on to say that he'd seen a Psychiatrist to talk about why it happened, and that he had to deal with deep family stuff, blah blah blah, but that he determined that it had to do with his missing brother in VietNam.
Let's see now. A missing brother in Viet Nam makes him have panic attacks when he's suddenly Gov. of Vermont upon the death of the Govenor? Does that sound like a well-balanced man?
I've always thought he was looney-tunes. I mean, some of his head gestures when's talking on just weird, and I meant HEAD not hand. He holds his head at really strange angles. I think he's off his rocker, and it shows!
Mike, how are the plans going for the weekend for pizza and soda for the guys at WRAMC? I can't see that anyone replied to you but maybe they've been sending FReepmails.
Oops - timer just went off. Dinner is cooked. I'll be back in awhile.

I just saw that too, I'm sure it was because of the kind words Zell Miller had for him as he introduced him
