The Spectator is right: the Dems are playing for 2008...so who do WE want to run in 2008

OK, gang.

Barring a catastrophe or another 9/11 attack, it's pretty much a given that President Bush will be re-elected in just under 10 months from today. That's been already listed here on FR today. And Jay Currie has a VERY good point. The Dems KNOW they've already lost this election, and are using it to position for 2008 and, God Help Us, Hillary.

Who do we have / want who is in position to run for the Republican nomination in 2008 ???

Given that President Bush would want to have his successor continue his policies, who you all of you think is a worthy successor to George W. Bush, and our best defense against the Hildebeast ???

I hope & PRAY that a RINO does not get on the ticket but *if* that happens I am still voting Republican.

No power other than sudden death will keep me from voting Republican in 08 or any other election.

Staying home or voting 3rd party is *NOT* an option! Either one of those options will hand the '08 election to hillary on a silver platter. I will *not* be a part of that.

DO YOU perot VOTERS out there HEAR ME!!!!!!!

(I'm not yelling at you Gritty)

I'm just bitching, I'm not a paleo self destructor though I am fairly paleo culturally.....not about war or Israel btw.

I like Joe Scarborough....I think that gives me an FR exclusivity.

One nod for Panhandle Joe in 08!...lol

Get your facts straight before you shoot your mouth off. Nobody is supporting amnesty

Touchy, touchy...

Of course it's amnesty. Slow motion, incremental amnesty.

Even Ray Charles can see that.

I've heard a lot of talk about Condoleeza Rice and Rudy Guilliani, but I think both are a wash because they are pro-abortion. The abortion issue is the line in the sand for many principled conservatives who would stay home rather than vote for a pro-abortion candidate.

The one I'm keeping an eye on is Colorado governor, Bill Owens.

Owens has a PAC in Washington for a Presidential campaign.

JohnnyZ do you want to add anything?

"Rice is more liberal than Bush is, and people on this board are always crying about how "Bush isn't a real Conservative" - and these are the same people infatuated with Rice."

I've noticed that too. Don't misunderstand. I like Condi Rice and I think she is very good at what she does as far as I can tell, but I don't think she is presidential material, at least not on a Republican ticket.

That is encouraging. What is this about him and his wife being separated? Is this true? I was living in Colorado when he was elected governor and I have been very impressed with him. It doesn't hurt that he is pretty tight with the president either.

I would support her as Secretary of State, but being President is a whole different ball game.

Apparently I'm not alone in thinking that Bill Owens would be a good candidate in 2008.

They're seperated but they don't yet have an official divorce it's been like this for a couple of months.

In case you are wondering, they didn't divorce because Owens had an affair. His wife just got sick of being a politicians wife.

I hope he can get his marriage back to together.
