The Spectator is right: the Dems are playing for 2008...so who do WE want to run in 2008

OK, gang.

Barring a catastrophe or another 9/11 attack, it's pretty much a given that President Bush will be re-elected in just under 10 months from today. That's been already listed here on FR today. And Jay Currie has a VERY good point. The Dems KNOW they've already lost this election, and are using it to position for 2008 and, God Help Us, Hillary.

Who do we have / want who is in position to run for the Republican nomination in 2008 ???

Given that President Bush would want to have his successor continue his policies, who you all of you think is a worthy successor to George W. Bush, and our best defense against the Hildebeast ???

Get your facts straight before you shoot your mouth off.

Nobody is supporting amnesty, and if you think so, your not paying attention to reality. Bush's plan fines people, and gives them workers permits. That is not amnesty, nor does it give them citizenship.

And also, while what Rush said isn't racist, it was wrong. Did you see McNabb during the last playoff game? He was incredible.

It was right at the time he said it. McNabb has improved since then. Thanks to Rush?

Powell was against the Original Gulf War - even Clintoon was for that.

Powell was also against attacking the Taliban after 911 (He wanted to work with "Moderate" Taliban and no I am not making this up).

He has no problems with letting Iran developing nukes.

If Jeb deserves it, and he's chosen by Republicans in the primaries, why not? That's hardly a monarchy.

Any Quarterback who wins a playoff game by throwing a perfect do-or-die pass on 4th and 26 is gonna get my respect.

"I saw Owens on Joe Scarborough's show and he couldn't even hold his own to Pat Buchanan."

That's probably because Ol' Pitchfork was giving Owens the evil eye.

Seriously, if the GOP needs the "anti-Hillary" in 2008, there is no one better than LAURA INGRAHAM. I'm serious...She's bright, she's articulate, she's conservative, and she's gorgeous. If 2008's going to turn into a catfight, she's the obvious choice to battle Hillary.

Santorum isn't viable because he opposes abortion?!?!?!

Funny, I thought George W. Bush, George Bush Sr., and Ronald Reagan all did too, and I noticed they were president at one point or another...

Yes, but they were other things as well as pro-life. That is, they were this, this, and this, and, by the way, also oppose abortion. Santorum has made his bones in the Senate as a pro-life advocate. No matter what other positions he may stake out on other issues, this one will come to the fore. He has been very steadfast in that and absolutely holds the right position. Logic and the moral high ground are on his side. For that reason, the Rats and the presstitutes will kill him for it. Goes to show you the state of the world. A guy who holds all the right positions on an important subject will probably be unelectable to a higher office because of it. Something in me says that it should not be that way, and, in many ways, it's a world gone mad. But I suppose its happened before.

And who exactly is promoting amnesty?

Ah, you must be one of those people who doesn't believe President Bush's proposal is a de facto amnesty. It is.

Those who's plan for illegal immigration is to machine-gun anyone coming across the border improperly love to couch the President's proposal as "amnesty," because that's what their rhetoric has been geared for for the past three years -- to oppose "amnesty." They'd rather call Bush's plan "amensty" than have to retool their talking points.

Great! What are his stands on RKBA, abortion and the Constitution? We need a REAL conservative, Bush is about 1/3 of the way there.

I don't necessarily want RINOs. I'm saying we may get one if Guliani or Pataki gets the nod.

I'm of the opinion that's there's little difference between any Democrat and the RINO's presently inhabiting the White House.

Tom Kean is incorruptable, optimistic, and I've met him, and found him a very likeable guy.

Combined with J.C. Watts' pro-lifeness and his blackitude, and they'll give Hillary the fits.

I should have said about Laura Ingraham, "She's bright, she's articulate, she's conservative, and she's gorgeous -- everything Hillary is NOT!"
