Illegal-alien smugglers caught in N. Dakota

Latino immigrants admit paying thousands of dollars for unlawful entry

Federal authorities say two suspected smugglers and nearly a dozen illegal aliens have been taken into custody following an attempt to enter the U.S. through North Dakota.

The Grand Forks Herald reports Carlos Rivera-Erazo was arrested at the Greyhound bus station in Grand Forks with three aliens, while another, Oscar Bonilla-Montero, was nabbed while attempting to pick up eight aliens near the border at Walhalla, N.D.

U.S. Attorney Nick Chase says a tip from Canadian authorities led to the arrest of Bonilla-Montero, a native Costa Rican who became a legal citizen of Canada.

Officials learned he would be dropping off aliens on the Canada side, after which he would drive across the border legally and pick them up once inside the U.S.

Bonilla-Montero was arrested alone by U.S. Border Patrol after entering North Dakota. KYFR-TV in Bismarck reports the eight illegal aliens he was looking to retrieve were found huddling together for warmth carrying walkie-talkies.

Two of the illegals were reportedly from the Dominican Republic and the other six from Costa Rica. The Herald says when debriefed, the aliens admitted they paid the suspect up to $3,000 to be smuggled into America.

Meanwhile, Rivera-Erazo, a citizen of El Salvador, was taken into custody after a Border Patrol agent saw him talking with Xinia Elizabeth Chinchilla-Ruiz of Costa Rica and her two children at the bus station.

According to the arrest affidavit, Rivera-Erazo claimed to be a legal resident, but Chinchilla-Ruiz admitted she and her children didn't have valid documents. She then admitted to paying the alleged smuggler $4,500 to get her from Windsor, Ont., near Detroit to Newark, N.J., where she has relatives.

Her kids have been released to relatives who are legal U.S. residents.

Federal officials say the illegals would be detained for several weeks to be witnesses against the accused smugglers, but would later be deported out of the country.

The suspects face a minimum of three years prison if convicted.

" an attempt to enter the U.S. through North Dakota. "

When's W going to go visit the pres of North Dakota and grant the resident's amnesty?

Nor Dak probably has more nukes than North Korea, maybe we should invade it, or build a wall around it.

Just what I was thinking! I had thought N.D. was still part of the union, though no one would notice if it withdrew probably.

This IS WND, however. Maybe it knows something the rest of us don't.

Actually, we NEED people in the Dakotas. If they can generate business like the Laotians do in California with their restaurants and mom&pops in California, it might be a plus!

I thought border patrol/INS had given up rounding up illegals.... THe Tyson chicken plants in Arkansas are still brimming with illegals...yet I haven't heard of a raid up that way in a few years.

Or is it just the country of origin that got the attention?

Please do print out flyers in Spanish, just as our ancestors printed out flier in Norwegian decades ago, trying to lure people to the cold Northern Plains.

Depopulation is such a problem here that schools are forced to close or consolidate. Small towns with once-thriving businesses are shuttered and main streets are dying. We need innovative, hard-working people. We have many resources that could be developed if we only had people.

People in crowded urban areas don't realize that there are huge, open areas begging for people.

SEND US PEOPLE!!!
HARD-WORKING FAMILIES WANTED!!!

Aberdeen was nicknamed the "Hub City" because it served as an important intersection for many busy railroad lines. Today's "Hub City" has grown into a diverse, regional trade center with service and manufacturing industries, attractive retail shopping opportunities, superb convention facilities, great schools, a private college, a state university and two large medical centers.

Be carefull what you wish for.

Teher are MANY associated problems with "cheap" i;llegal labor.

Crime, pressure on Hospital, Shcools etc.

It's actually getting society as a whole to subisdize the lower labor costs.

Well thank you for that. I even sent your request via email to a good friend of ours in the lovely town of Calexico, near the border.

His hobby is citizens band radio, this ol guy has an station with a 2000 watt amplifier and routinely broadcasts deep into Mexico. He speaks fluent Spanish too. He even has an automatic broadcast recorder that will re-broadcast the message every half hour automatically.

He says he will sweeten the deal and tell them about the cheap housing, and that illegals are more than welcome in your community!

Oh, and I hope you don't mind, but I sent your message to KFI LA radio. They are the blowtorch west coast station, and I suggested that they also broadcast your welcome message to the greater LA area as a public service announcement.

And to round things off, I also sent your welcome message to La Opinion in LOS ANGELES! They are the publishers of the Los Angeles Hispanic daily newspaper La Opinion and CPK Media, which publishes El Diario-La Prensa in New York.

Thank you for being so compassionate and understanding. If you come up with some more contact information in your community, please, by all means contact or ping me and I will forward it to the right people.

Thanks again, look forward to hearing from you.
