Editorial: More recklessness (California Budget)

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger seems to have a short memory.

Last Tuesday, in his State of the State address, he told California that "never again will government be allowed to spend money it doesn't have." By Friday, alas, he had forgotten. He proposed in his budget that the state, well, spend money it doesn't have for the 2004-2005 fiscal year that begins July 1.

I don't like the Bee much but we shouldn't pile more debt on what we've got. We need to cut spending but the politicians in Sacramento are too obtuse to do what every family does in hard times. Let's send them a message by voting "NO" on the blank check initiative and every bond on the ballot in March.
