My little white chihuahua, Fidel.

LOL! My 3 lb. Maltese(little bow on top of her head) has been chasing huge dogs down the street since last year. She thinks she is alpha dog because they run away from her(pulled, by their leads, down the street by their owners on thier walks). I keep waiting for something to eat her.

Great Danes?!?!? The ones I grew up with were the biggest babbies who would lick you to death.

Doberman Pinschers

Bullsh*t! I grew up with one as a pet when I was 7 years old. There wasn't a viscious bone in that dogs body, at least not toward anyone who didn't try something foolish like breaking into the house or trying to harm anyone in the family.

No, it is very true about Dobermans. My grandfather raised them. Every once in a while one would just be mean and you had to take special precautions when friends and strangers came over. Nobody was allowed out of the car until that one dog was put up the rest were no problem and very friendly to everybody. He was afraid of what that dog would do even to us grandchildren, I think he finally put it down the second time it attacked somebody who came over to the house to see him.

I dont believe that to be true at all. There is no such thing as a naturally evil doberman any more than there is a naturally evil poodle or a Jack Russell terrier.

I firmly believe its how the dog is trained, not its breed.

CDC is full of it...there are far more protective prey drive breeds out there... they are rare...thats all....

What's needed is a breakdown of the number of bites per breed -

- a simple list, as was shown above, can lead to erroneous conclusions as to the danger of particular breeds ...

Never,never trust a Chow

My daughter works for animal control. She is excellent with dogs, cats, etc.

The only breed she is afraid of is chow

If you want truly dangerous dogs, get either mastifs or the smaller (150lb) bull mastifs.

Sorry, on this you would be wrong. We had long discussions about this breed and this one dog, as he was a breeder he would know. He loved this dog as he did the rest of the other dobermans he had and knew a lot about training animals (a horse trainer asked to train horses for the Kentucky derby). This one dog out of the ones he had bred was naturally mean, not trained to be mean. He kept the animal instead of selling it, thinking that he would have the best chance of watching over the animal.

As some people are crazy, some animals are also. Some breeds tend to produce more of vicious dogs than others because of inbreeding, others breeds the inbreeding causes other problem such as joint problems in English Bulldogs.

How Many Dogs Does It Take to Change A Light Bulb?

Golden Retriever:
The sun is shining, the day is young, we've got our whole lives ahead of us, and you're inside worrying about a stupid burned out bulb?

Border Collie:
Just one. And then I'll replace any wiring that's not up to code.

Dachshund:
You know I can't reach that stupid lamp!

Rottweiler:
Make me.

Boxer:
Who cares? I can still play with my squeaky toys in the dark.

Lab:
Oh, me, me!!!!! Pleeeeeeeeeze let me change the light bulb! Can I? Can I? Huh? Huh? Huh? Can I? Pleeeeeeeeeze, please, please, please!

German Shepherd:
I'll change it as soon as I've led these people from the dark, check to make sure I haven't missed any, and make just one more perimeter patrol to see that no one has tried to take advantage of the situation.

Jack Russell Terrier:
I'll just pop it in while I'm bouncing off the walls and furniture.

Old English Sheep Dog:
Light bulb? I'm sorry, but I don't see a light bulb?

Cocker Spaniel:
Why change it? I can still pee on the carpet in the dark.

Chihuahua:
Yo quiero Taco Bulb.

Pointer:
I see it, there it is, there it is, right there ...

Greyhound:
It isn't moving. Who cares?

Australian Shepherd:
First, I'll put all the light bulbs in a little circle ...

Poodle
I'll just blow in the Border Collie's ear and he'll do it. By the time he finishes rewiring the house, my nails will be dry.

Off topic, sorry, but we're in the early stages of thinking of one as a second dog to our 6 year old springer (field). Never having had one and if anyone has any experience with springers would they require the same/more/less activity that a springer requires?

As some people are crazy, some animals are also.

Unless you can present some factual stats that are relational across all breeds, I won't accept the concept of Dobes or bulldogs are any more prone to producing nutcase dogs.

Pitbulls get press because of their large numbers and lack of training in the urban areas. Dobermans get bad press for their portrayal in movies and hollywood. The only bad dobes that I have seen are chained up dogs with zero training.

Every breed has their pack of bad seeds and its NOT more abundant in certain breeds than others. I just dont see any reason to believe that.

If thats the case, explain muts.
