MODESTO - Scott Peterson's defense lawyer failed Tuesday to get murder charges thrown out against his client, but he did, for the first time, spell out just how he contends Laci Peterson and her unborn son died and ended up along the banks of the San Francisco Bay.

I just watched the video at ktvu.com. Somebody claims to have seen Laci and the dog at the park, but this was about 15 minutes after the neighbors found the dog wandering at the house. Good video, Scotty squirms alot!

The dog was found with leash on, muddy. A neighbor found the dog and returned it to the Petersons' back yard. I recall the neighbor found it not in the nearby park, but on their home street.

My guess is Scott dumped the dog on the way out for an alibi, but the dog walked home. Or maybe Laci took it there...For sure, neither side has discussed this issue, maybe it can be called a loose end. And the yakkers on cable never talk about it...but I think it will be a big deal.

I don't see what the prosecution would have to explain about the dog. We're dealing with the murder of human beings here.

I don't believe that Lacie went anywhere that night. The dog may be irrelevant unless there's evidence on the dog that proves either side's contentions about the case. Seems pretty slim in any event.

If the defense wants to bring in an Iraqi forensics mud analyst to proclaim that the mud on the leash couldn't possibly be from the murder scene which proves that two Satanic cult members who hate loud dogs moved Lacie's body after they slew her, they can run it up the flagpole and see if anyone on the jury salutes it.

All I know is that I am not buying the fact that Scott Peterson went fishing on a rainy Christmas Eve while his wife walked the dog, and that she ran afoul of a Satanic Cult while Scott was miles away casting his line. Scott Peterson being arrested near the US/Mexican border with facial hair and a peroxide hair recoloring looks pretty fishy to me.
