"BESIDES that little 1,000 watt station in Chicago that is ..."That no one has heard of.
Compare that to WLS in Chicago, a 50,000 watt fog horn that Rush earned his way into.

I don't even give him 6 months. He'll flop immediately because he has nothing to say! I think he's anticipating hostility from callers from the right. That kind of friction draws interest for some reason. Hannity's show is recharged when progressies call in. Gives him someone to pound on. Franken will have an endless parade of hostile callers who will be fodder for the progressie callers to kick around.

Rush does just fine ~ I like the format of his show and I like the way Rush handles seminar callers ~ Rush is perfect!

He'll have the 'callers' planted because there's no way he can withstand a debate from a conservative. Irate conservative callers will be his bread and butter. He's going to have a "co-host with long experience" to help him out during those moments of mental black-out.

The shortest-lived TV show was cancelled the morning after its first airing in 1969. I doubt that even the rapier wit of Mr. Franken, who brought us great television moments like the famed SNL vomitorium sketch, can result in a briefer existence--but it would be nice.
Franken needs to take his medication and go away.
Radio has not been kind to liberals and a raving lunatic like Franken should not last long.

This "show" will never get off the ground. They said early last year that it would be up and running by "early 2004."
If it does even get started, it will just be for a couple of months before the November elections and will be done before the year is out.

Watch me unravel, I'll soon be naked....
But seriously, how is Franken going to fill three hours a day? I don't think this effort is ever going to get on the air.
To: Rummyfan

If the program fails, our mantra would be: "when liberals go head to head with conservatives, liberals fail."
Interesting that they keep referring to Rush's program for format ideas as if they don't have any ideas of their own. And it appears that they are trying to capture Rush's audience by scheduling the program at the same time as his. They think they are going to get conservatives to convert to liberalism! What a laugh!
Let the dueling begin. May the best person win.

Franken heads to radio, will challenge Limbaugh slot I wonder if he'll still find time to post to the DU.

I'm looking forward to this.
Since leftists, liberals and socialists such as Franken are so quick to fry Rush Limbaugh for drug abuse, it'll be interesting to hear ol' Al open his first show revealing his own history of "writing" for SNL under the influence of such socially acceptable & recreational stimulants such as marijuana, cocaine, acid, PCP, crack, heroin, THC and banana peels.
But then again, Al's an elitist in the true sense...

OMG I sure hope that they put all kinds of money in this one. Hope Al gets a fat five year contract that has to be paid to him no matter how many days he is on the air. This one will drain the coffers of the libs big time.

Compare that to WLS in Chicago, a 50,000 watt fog horn that Rush earned his way into. Roger that!
The soil up there, near the lake, is sandy too - that contributes to *poor* propagation for an AM station that relies on ground wave for coverage ... 50,000 watts goes a long ways in overcoming that - WLS can be heard in downstate Illinois during the day!

He [Al Franken in a "comedy" bit] was playing up the fact [that] the troops had been there so long that their wives were giving birth to babies... [that were] conceived after the soldier went overseas. Truly incredible. That crusty sphincter has actually sunk low enough to think that the same crap pumped out by Tokyo rose is funny. The only difference is that he doesnt play enjoyable music between his propaganda messages.
How can low-lifes like this guy still claim that they hate this administration, but support and respect the troops when they do things like this?

>I'm *so* glad to see Liberals wasting their money on this.
The sad thing is that they're wasting other people's money who may not happen to agree with their politics. Some fund manager called Drobny managed millions and diverted part of it towards this project. Those invested in the fund may not have even knows his politics when they entrusted him with their money or that he would do something so irresponsible with their money. Liberal are NEVER generous with their own money; that quality only comes out with other people's money.

Liberal radio will not work because most listen to radio in the car on their way to work. But most liberals don't have jobs. The plan is doomed to failure.

Actually, speaking of advertisers, that's one thing that's always bothered me about Rush's show.
What kind of morons do his advertisers think we are? There was that spot about learning to improve your eyesight, so you wouldn't need glasses, by doing exercises? And the baldness cure from Avecor? Not to mention the pills that put the fire back in your sex life.... Testosto-zine, or something like that.... And at least one or two more, that get played a lot, along the same lines.
I guess it sort of goes with the whole tone of the show, him always telling you how intellectually superior he is... just like a snake-oil salesman. I listen to him more for entertainment than information.
