This is the entire message I read:
Haven't heard this in the press but was posted to one of my military INTEL sites. Sounds right though and seems to be in line with other similiar reports of our President and his interactions with his military..........
Quote
" On 7 November, I had the opportunity to send some of my soldiers to the White House to participate in a Presidential departure ceremony. It was billed as they would get there, get a brief by the Mil Asst. and stand behind the ropes and wave as the president went out to Marine One. I thought it would be a good opportunity to reward some of my Officers & NCOs who day in and day out deal with death firsthand.
As it turns out..Once they got there, they were ushered into a separate holding room from the rest of the crowd and given the briefing. Just as they were to go out to the viewing area, an aide came and told them to follow him. The aide took them through the West Wing, into the Rose Garden. The staff and Secret Service left then the group alone in the Rose Garden . Without a word, the President came out and spent 20 minutes with the group, alone and away from the press. I'm telling this second hand so please forgive me.
They said he came out and thanked them for the enormous job they did for the families of the fallen. As he addressed the group, he began to weep, the emotion he displayed changed those soldiers forever.
They were standing before the most powerful man in the world and he was crying talking about the fallen and the price of freedom. He said he wanted the world to know that freedom was a God given right...for all, not just those of us in the US and that to have freedom, the price is high especially when it is counted in the lives of soldiers who volunteered willingly knowing the possible consequences. The soldiers returned with a renewed enthusiasm and determination to right by the families. As they each shared their stories, they too welled up with tears as they described their time with the President.
The aide said the President never does things like this, but once he found out that folks from the Army & Marine Corps Casualty & Mortuary Affairs Office were participating in the ceremony, he cleared his schedule to spend 20 mins with them.
I just wanted to share that story with you. It makes me proud that our President would do that to show his gratitude to our soldiers."

To someone who asked if we'd ever see this on the alphabet soup stations, I believe the answer is "No", "NO way", and "Not ever". And that, dear friend, is the true beauty of the story -- this Commander in Chief doesn't do this sort of thing for the publicity. These stories circulate where they are appreciated.

"You know, I've spent too much time reading posts of freepers who hate this President, almost with the passion that the far left does.
I've read repeated cynical, hate-filled, sarcastic and ugly comments about him by many who claim 'conservatism' and love of country as the basis for their hatred of him.
Articles like these that reveal the deep character, humility and love of George W. Bush wipe those ugly comments away.
The Bush haters on this forum are wrong. They are dead wrong about this man.
God is working in and through George W. Bush, and he MUST be reelected. The future of the country......and even the world is at stake. May God continue to bless him!"
Your statement is so ELOQUENT and so TRUE that it deserves a second posting!
May God continue to bless President George W Bush (and our military)!

Truthy: Thanks for the ping. (The bashing of this president can only be happening because satan hates the nice guy. I sincerely believe that anyone who does not like W does not have the Holy Spirit in his or her life!)
Others: This deserves a Canteen ping!
God bless our President!

"I agree with you. Also, regarding the much-maligned (here) "Leave No Child Behind" education act supported by Pres. Bush, I received an email today which discussed the fact that the bill ensures students' freedom of religion within public schools. Specifically, here's what the email alert said:
"Within a few days, the federal government expects public school districts to file documents assuring the public that their students are receiving constitutionally guaranteed religious freedom on campuses. New federal guidelines on religious expression are part of the No Child Left Behind Act, the education reform bill that was enacted in 2001. The guidelines clarify that public schools are not religion-free zones, school officials are not prayer police, and students of faith are not enemies of the state. If a single school is out of compliance, so is the entire district and all federal funding for that district is at stake. This means students will be able to pray at the beginning of assemblies and sports events, as well as extra-curricular activities, and will even be able to pray in Jesus' Name. (Intercessors for America)"
I am fully aware of the innovative ACCOUNTABILITY measures included in the 'No Child Left Behind' law; however, I did not know that it contained this particular statute -- EXCELLENT!
FYI: I also understand that our PERSISTENT president has included funding for school vouchers in the new omnibus budget waiting to be signed into law by Congress!

Thanks for this ping. Another example of our President's real humanity. Couple of tears here myself just reading about it. Who on God's green earth could hate a man like this? WE know.

I don't recall either of the Clinton's receiving a heart felt smile and hand shake from our military. TFB.
Exactly why they stopped the absentee vote in Fla. Who do you trust?

Thanks for posting this Truthy.
As I said the other night on the Dose, we KNOW this man. We've watched him day in and day out, do the hard work of this nation, for ALL of its citizens - not just the Republicans. And we are a better country because of him.
May God continue to bless him (and us), and keep him safe.
4 MORE YEARS !!!

I think you're right. I just Freepmailed another poster on this thread, and said that this President never defends himself or his actions; he simply does what is right, as he understands the right, and allows events and history to vindicate him.
To all the naysayers on the right, I've yet to hear any of them say that we'd be better off having Al Gore as President.

The Bush haters on this forum are wrong. They are dead wrong about this man. Agreed. And I've lost all patience with the naysayers. They represent about only 1/10th of one-percent of the electorate anyway, but they're more like a noisy 10-percent on FR. To hear them trash a President of honor an integrity, who is carrying the biggest burden of any President since World War 2, leads me to conclude that these posters are either morons, or have no character themselves.
