[history]
The Virginia legislature opens it 2004 session this week under the cloud of Gov. Mark Warner's proposal for the largest tax increase in the state's history.
The proposal includes a 22 percent increase in the sales tax, from 4.5 percent to 5.5 percent. It includes a 10 percent increase in the top income tax rate in the state, from 5.75 percent to 6.25 percent.

And guess what, he was voted in as the Chairman of the National Governor's Association this week. So now he has a national forum to spew his nonsense.

Any electorate immoral, apathetic, and stupid enough to entrust democraps with high office deserve to be raped. (Although family obligations may call me back to the Old Dominion some time in the next few years...)

This is the same Mr. Warner who ran for governor in 2001 with a huge ad campaign saying he would never dream of raising taxes, and that his opponent, Mark Earley, was a scumbag politician for even suggesting he would. He sees no dishonor in now proposing the largest tax increase in the history of Virginia. There must be a very clever analogy in there somewhere, but I don't think I can come up with one that won't be censored.

Well, I could start with the word "hypocrite". That's the mildest thing I can say that won't get me in trouble with the powers that be.
All I can say is, thank the good Lord that governors in Virginia cannot hold back-to-back terms.

Certainly not THIS governor.
To: xsysmgr
How about that. The Sacchrine carpet bagger thought he was real slick offering us the opportunity to raise our own taxes. We didn't bite. So he's now going to give us a hand effecting his scheme.
I for one would like to see Virginia bump their term limits to two terms for governors. Kicking someone out of office feels better than just watching them leave on cue.

Blame the Republican Party of Virginia apparat. Mark Earley was a seriously non-appealing candidate for Governor. Mark Warner didn't so much win the Governor's Mansion, as Earley lost it.
We plan to fix that problem with Jerry Kilgore, next year. . . .

Any electorate immoral, apathetic, and stupid enough to entrust democraps with high office deserve to be raped. Oh bite me. Some of us worked our butts off to keep this carpetbagger out of office. And we've been doing the same for the last two years to keep him from raising our taxes. It's not our fault that the Republican candidate pushed to the forefront, while a great Attorney General, a fine man and a good candidate up to the point he got the nomination turned into oatmeal.

If Virginia is "taxaholic," New York must be in the John Bonham/Jimi Hendrix stage at this point.
