Conservatives Should Support the President Now and in November Becauseā€¦
Jewish World Review, January ^ | January 13, 2004 | Martha Zoller

…They Asked for His Kind of Leadership

You hear it in the coffee shops all over the "red areas" of the map. Everyone knows that is where the real politics is discussed in America. Conservatives are asking themselves, "What was the President thinking?" They might be talking about No Child Left Behind, or steel tariffs or the signing of many less than conservative bills.

In the coffee shops in the "blue areas," liberals don't sit around much. They are too angry and busy to stop for a while but many are thinking that President Bush is the most conservative president in years, since "oh, my God, Reagan," and he must be stopped.

Both of these assessments cannot be true and after spending years looking at politics, I took my first serious stand on a candidate in 1968 at the tender age of 9, if both sides are mad at you, you are probably on the right track. So why should conservatives and moderates support the President, now on issues and later this year at the ballot box?

-snip-

Based on the history of this President, we better not count him out till we see how things unfold. He is what conservatives asked for in a President. He cut taxes, got our economy going again and lives and breathes the safety of this country and the people in it. When it is all said and done, George W. Bush does what he believes is right for the American people and he is willing to stand on his record in November.

Politics is the world's second oldest profession. It resembles the first, but business is conducted wholesale instead of retail.

In both professions they simply give the customer what they want. That's why they are the oldest...

Sandra had been pretty good up until recently. It seems like age makes 'em squishy. Even happened to Barry Goldwater in the waning days of his life.

Clever...... I doubt many find it clever....

Those that support him, no. Mind you these were people who went to lengths to come up with new names for Clinton, so what goes around...

For the most part, Canadian drug laws mirror those in the US.

LMAO. Don't kid an old kidder. Is that why the Canadian Government told our government they were going to legalize pot whether our government liked it or not? I am still looking for that ONE issue that drove you from your native land into the arms of this nation. The one whose government you have so far only trashed. I really don't believe you came here solely for your belief that you needed to "save us from ourselves". I am truly curious.

Gee, I think I'll cut off my nose. That'll teach my face.

This thread is un-freaking-believable. I hope we don't all have to get used to saying "President Dean" because of these fools.

Nano, is there a way to change my screen name on this forum. If nobody else has it I would like to claim Exrepublican as my moniker. I have finally gotten tired of being the abused wife for the republican party. I support your view completely. It's my country and nobody has the right to take it and give it to foreign felons. Both parties now want sell my birhtright.

This customer wants his money back.

The majority of the electorate in 2000 voted for either Al Gore or Ralph Nader. Do you know what that means?

You as a customer want your money back. I as a customer want my money back. The electorate on the other hand is loving the services rendered.

Sickening, ain't it? If they just wanted to sink their own ship, that'd be one thing - I just hope the rest of us don't have to drown with these nuts.

Who is the LP gonna run this time? They made a full frontal attack last time from local level on up and I suppose maybe got a few elected at the lower levels but nothing up top I'd guess. I guess it was Nader and the Greens that came in 3rd..... so the LP was down ticket in maybe 5th or so.... Even behind Buchanan I think...

So what's the prospects for this go around to upset the two-party cartel?

I hope you're right. They're playing right into Dean's hands. People like this are the Democrats' best hope.

Yeah, and ol' Harry turned out to be a giant fruitcake. You don't hear much about that around here, however.

Come on down to the Arizona-Mexico border. You can get serviced every night by both governments.

Nuts were out in 2000 or have you forgotten? Squirrels just can't keep them all gathered up..... They make for interesting watching like the nut gathers do.

It's way too early to be getting distressed. Ten months till lever pulling time... and at this stage the country isn't in a mood to swap CinC imo.....

You have expressed my feelings perfectly!
W and Karl can hold each others hands one fine evening in November.
This is MY country, too, and this is the last straw!

I just have to keep reminding myself what a small percentage of people actually think this way, and that on FR, there is a far, far greater concentration of them than there is in real life.

The welfare state today is no higher as a percentage of GDP then it was during any of Reagans 8 years as president.

Source?

The premise of your question is false.

During the time that illegals are granted their blue cards will they be taxed and the withholding go to the fedgov similar to what the rest of us pay? Is there an option for this money to be held in account for a payout to Mexico or refunded back to the individual?

I'll assume your contention that your figures are true but is it safe to assume that all things will remain equal with the current proposal for a guest worker program? If not then it is an expansion of welfare.
