When you are politically extreme, in either direction, you will NEVER EVER get what you want. You can complain about that fruitlessly, or you can accept it. Those are your two choices. You are allowed no others. It's not something you have any control over. It is the nature -- the definition -- of the political spectrum.

Half a loaf is what you get not because of anything anyone did to you. It's because half a loaf is all you can ever get. It's not the moment. It's not the circumstance. It is timeless reality.

All you can do is minimize displeasure. You can never maximize pleasure. If you are responsible, you have to vote for the candidate with a chance of winning who is less liberal than the other. If you do otherwise, as in staying home, voting for the liberal or voting fringe third party, you condemn your best friend and your family to life in a society that encourages killing unborn babies, apologizes to the French and raises taxes in order to fund more midnight basketball.

There are a lot of aspects of life in which one has no viable choice. Breathing. Paying taxes. Stopping at red lights. This is merely another.

By voting fringe party/staying home on election day, you teach the GOP/RNC N-O-T-H-I-N-G ! What YOU get, if enough of you manage to pull it off, is exactly what you claim to NOT want ... a Dem president and more Dems in both Houses.

My view is that he is starting serious dialogs...and with only proposals, cutting his opponents' water off. This dialog placates those he has negotiated with on our behalf, like the Mexicans and Canadians and Dems...and has certainly gotten all sides thinking outside their respective boxes...and paying attention. Let's see what REALLY takes place, and in the mean time, allow him to play the diplomatic hand here and abroad, as best as he sees fit. There are national security issues in all this which we only guess at...and until the rest of us ALL become president with him...we should let him proceed with his job.

Bull droppings, sinskpur...I have had nothing but respect and praise for Bush as a person. I ALWAYS criticize the policies, and not the person himself. So go to hell...

You knew good and well that Bush was not a screaming right-winger; he's largely done what he said he was going to do.

I knew that and, although I didn't vote for him in 2000, I still went out and supported him with among other conservatives against the Rats' hijacking.

You talk about principles when you trash a president who's doing exactly what he said he would do?

You're the last person who should talk about principles. You'd rather march lockstep and participate in groupthink than go out and fight against entrenched, spineless representatives of a political party who have turned their backs on what they're supposed to believe in.

The biggest reason I can think of is because if a democrat gets in office we will all have to purchase prayer rugs, burkas, and "Hooked on Arabic" for the kids. Tax cuts are also another reason. Some of his pro-life stances are good too. Besides that, we will be getting the same as democrat policies.

So we should dissolve the military? Who protected you from Communism, Fascism..and now Terrorism? Such gratitude for the men and women who served this country.

I don't depend on the government or anyone for my personal success...but we all need protection from criminals and dictators and other governments who don't see things the way we do.

The federal government has a basic responsibility to protect our nation and the people from foreign invaders. No local militia or closet full of firearms can protect us sufficiently in today's world of global warfare.
