My office is about 4 miles from the scene, and the people who happened to be in the parking lot said they heard the explosion and almost immediately saw the smoke... I pray for those who lost their lives, and their families...

Why ..?? I think it's hysterical .. especially when Laurie Dhue was overheard saying the expression ..!!
Actually .. I like to use it and I plan to continue.

Sorry, inanity is not standard on FR when there's a tragedy. Is Hugh Series okay? Who is he?

Fortunately, it really wasn't too bad for me, I can avoid that bridge relatively easily with alternate routes. Sorry you had such a rotten time navigating around it during your visit!

Not surprising. My experiences with I-95 is that most people driving on it believe 95 is the speed limit.
Its not? ;-)

I HATE RT.95! North or South! This is the first Christmas in 15 years we did not drive up to NJ from VA. It has become a TOTAL 400 mile nightmare for me. The past 5 years has to have been the worst thru DC/BWI area.
I friggin HATE that ride!

But why? It stopped be funny forever agoIf it was ever really funny at all -- which is highly debatable. It's not even a joke... it's just mindless sarcasm for the sake of sarcasm.
Someday it will go away. Not soon enough, though...

Regarding your post # 30:
I agree! I am SO sick of this comment. Do they still think it's funny? (Or is it a matter they really do not have anything to say....)

Thanks, he and his buddies just called-detoured into East BF Maryland...Hmmm...that doesn't narrow it down too much. I live there and I wish them luck, but just in case, you should put dinner in the freezer rather than the oven.

Update from Baltimore. Four fatalities confirmed. I-95 southbound has two lanes open as of 8 p.m. All northbound lanes remain closed and most likely will until sometime tomorrow. Engineers are checking for structural damage on the northbound roadway as well as the overpass above the fire. Anyone traveling north on I-95 should find alternative routes or risk being tied up in one long traffic backup.

According to a poster it was the second today for the area, with a Propane truck accident this morning.
Trucks are under special watch/concern and have been for the past two years.
My husband delivered Mobil gas in Kingman, for the local Bulk plant, using a 1,000 and 2,000 gallon tank trailer. This was in the late 1970's and early 1980's.
I watch/check on all the truck accidents that I hear of, about early December of 2003, there was one on Hwy 93 to Phoenix that closed the road for about 10 hours, the news kept saying they didn't know what caused it, and I never knew who the driver was.
The one near Seattle last summer was a strange one, it looked like he deliberately scraped the guard rail.
That bus accident in Texas that hit the bridge support, had driven on the right hand side of the guard rail for about 1/4 mile to hit it. He was or appeared to be muslim.
If one goes through the old reports here on Free Republic, and looks at the pictures, it will sure make a person think.
Yes, it worries me and it hurts to know that with 4 dead, there are so many lives now changed forever.
I still say prayers of thanks that Bill was never in an accident with the truck, except when a gal pulled in directly behind him and stopped, after he had started backing up, with God's help, it only dented her fender.

Thanks for the info .. it does bother me a lot .. my eldest son is a truck drive and drives back and forth across the USA. Everytime I hear about an accident, my heart jumps a little until I find out what kind of truck it is.
