Spalding Gray - the wry, anxiety-ridden movie monologist best known for the films "Swimming to Cambodia" and "Gray's Anatomy" - has been reported missing by his wife.
The 62-year-old writer-performer, a diagnosed manic depressive, was last seen late Saturday night at his TriBeCa home, law-enforcement sources said.

I've never understood why somebody would blow their brains out or jump off a bridge when its so much more fun to spend twenty years drinking yourself to death.

I've been going to his monologues since the 80s.
Very bad news. I feel like I've lost a friend.

I hope he's OK. Until now, I hadn't heard of his trouble with depression or his auto accident. I've always thought he was very talented and intriguing.

He played a psychiatrist on the Nanny show. He was funny! What a shame! HELLywood has a way of destroying the human spirit in actors!

Gamblin sponsors an
art contest every year for
their paint, TORRIT GREY --
If you took all the pigments in the color spectrum and mixed them together, what color would they make?
Every spring, Gamblin Artists Colors collect the pigments from our air filtration system and recycle them into Torrit Grey. The mix of pigments is different every year, so Torrit Grey is always unique. Enjoy this paint today because this special color will only exist as paintings next year. Torrit Grey is only available at your local fine art supply store.
Torrit Grey is usually complementary and always complimentary.

Savage said he was dead in Pittsburg near a relatives house. Apparent suicide. Bipolar depression is a fatal disease in 15-25% of cases.

Damn. I hate to hear that about anyone, famous and talented, or not.
Prayers for the family.

I can't find confirmation anywhere yet on this statement by Savage.

In Paradisum de ducant te Angeli
in tu adventu suscipiant te martyres
et perducant te in civitatem sanctum
Jerusalem. Chorus Angelorum te suscipiate
et cum Lazaro quondam paupere
aeternam habeas requiem.
Into Paradise may the Angels lead you
At your coming may the martyrs receive you
And lead you into the holy city Jerusalem.
May the choir of angels receive you
And with Lazarus who once was poor
May you have peace everlasting.

I'm sure I wouldn't like his politics, but I once saw a monologue he did...it was something about buying a cabin in the wilderness that was nothing short of brilliant.

Razors pain you;
Rivers are damp;
Acids stain you;
And drugs cause cramp.
Guns aren't lawful;
Nooses give;
Gases smell awful;
You might as well live.

It's interesting about the head injury. My friend's son sustained a head injury when he was attacked while on a trip to Hawaii. Six years later he committed suicide. So sad.
