University Approved Leftist Hatemongering at Pennsylvania State University

Comments: This posting will show the hypocrisy at Penn State University.

In 2003 I wrote several columns in the Daily Collegian from a conservative viewpoint. Some examples: "Say yes to affirmative action ... in sports" (Feb 4 http://www.collegian.psu.edu/archive/2003/02/02-04-03tdc/02-04-03dops-column-01.asp) which gave a ridiculous defense of affirmative action in sports to show how silly affirmative action was in academics;

"Definition of 'homophobia' has become too inclusive" (Feb. 25, http://www.collegian.psu.edu/archive/2003/02/02-25-03tdc/02-25-03dops-column-02.asp) stated that liberals should tolerate Christian and conservative opinions about homosexuality and that the term "homophobe" had gotten overused;

"Conservatives are the group in the closet" (April 8,2003, http://www.collegian.psu.edu/archive/2003/04/04-08-03tdc/04-08-03dops-column-01.asp) was my response to the hypocrisy I received and saw at Penn State trying to conduct my research into PSU's own diversity policies (I have since graduated, but I have continued researching it).
I received a number of hate mails and name callings after the articles, but the most disturbing one was an email that I received from a Penn State PhD candidate and instructor (not one of my instructors) who wrote, "ALL THESE ARTICLES CONFIRM YOUR [SIC] A RACIST MOTHER F##KER…” (He teaches courses on Higher Education ... ironic). I reported this email message to REPORT THE HATE, an office at Penn State to report bigotry against race, sex, religious affiliation etc. I claimed bias against Christianity and conservatives. Unfortunately no one wrote back. I even emailed two Vice Presidents about the issue, asking each of them “why was it ignored?” and “how can you provide true educational equity with an instructor like this?”

Earlier in the semester I had written a column on Homophobia and how it was intolerant for someone to call a person a homophobe if they simply disagree with homosexuality. The following day a student was published in the newspaper not only calling me a homophobe but a heterosexist (apparently they are making up more words to name call people . . .one is not enough). http://www.collegian.psu.edu/archive/2003/02/02-26-03tdc/02-26-03dops-letter-02.asp

Even though the column never touched on my personal beliefs about homosexuality I felt as if the words “homophobe” and “heterosexist” were words of bigotry against Christian beliefs and Conservative ideology - bigotry that should not be tolerated. I further claimed that these names could lead to the suspension or expulsion of students from school or the dismissal of employees if they became stigmatized by these often abused names. Case in point: the publishing of a letter to the editor calling me a homophobe for not once stating my views on homosexuality but rather asking people to tolerate those who disagree. After submitting my complaint to REPORT THE HATE, they responded some time later explaining that the words were not used in a context of historical discrimination. The Diversity Advocate also excused her words because she was reacting to “systematic oppression of a people” and saw me as the oppressor. Interesting how simply saying “Tolerate others' beliefs” makes you an oppressor. I thought Penn State would have been excited about more diversity.

Sadly they condone bigotry against conservative students and Christian beliefs by defending liberal intolerance and ignoring legitimate complaints about the unprofessional behavior of their educational employees. I pursued my research into PSU’s own diversity policies and the unprofessional statement by the PSU instructor, pushing other offices to give me answers until a Vice President emailed me that he ordered all Penn State diversity related offices to ignore my emails...saying my journalism credit (credit, as in merit for a job or career) was in jeopardy.

"Conservatives are the group in the closet" was my final column. (Unfortunately...the semester did not end for another 5 weeks, but I was told my services were no longer needed). I don't expect everyone to agree with my point of view, but shouldn't Universities tolerate a diversity of viewpoints? Some college students, professors, and administrators are more than happy to make life miserable for students who disagree with them. After all, some claimed that my disagreement with homosexuality (my article never gave my personal stance on the subject...everyone just assumed!) makes me hate homosexuals which leads to treating them unfairly. If I followed their logic: disagreement leads to dislike, dislike leads to hate, hate leads to discrimination. Then the professors who disagreed with my political conservativeness would discriminate against me. (This is not always true; their logic train is on the wrong track).

Penn State has a huge budget for diversity, but aren’t Christians and Conservatives part of the Penn State diverse community? Apparently not. President Graham B. Spanier has stated “We must ward off all forms of discrimination . . .” (http://www.psu.edu/ur/civility/) (Note: this in on the Penn State website "Fighting hate: Resources on civility"!) It may be freedom of speech for a university instructor to call me a “racist mother f##ker” for expressing my views in the campus newspaper, and it may be “legal” for the administration to ignore the uncivil comment, but all this speaks volumes about the state of higher education today.

[Note from NoIndoctrination.org: Poster supplied us with corroborating evidence. In an email, the instructor also called the student a "JACKASS," "NEO-NAZI VIOLENT HATEMONGER," and wrote "WHERE DID YOU LEARN HOW TO WRITE, IN A NEO-NAZI SUMMER WRITING CAMP FOR THE DUMB AND STUPID? YOU KEEP WRITING LIKE THIS, YOU SHOULD KNOW, WHEN YOU DISH IT OUT, GET READY TO GET IT SHOVED WRITE [SIC] BACK UP YOUR A$$!"] [NoIndoctrination.org sent the instructor's email and rebuttal notice to Penn State President Spanier.]

Another of many examples of leftwing intolerance and hatred at our nations Universities. See NoIndoctrination.org for many more examples posted by university students made to suffer the indignation of leftist extremism on campus.

Maybe we should pen a new name - Conservaphobe. Bigotry against Christian beliefs and Conservative values.

"We are discovering that righting wrongs does not increase social concord. Women's liberation, racial equality, and the war on poverty have not made us a more united nation. On the contrary, social justice has multiplied grievances and fueled discord. Like total freedom, total justice may become a cause of social disintegration."

Just call 'em "Bigots", like I do, when called a "homophobe" or other such tripe.

Christophobe or, as another suggested, conservaphobe. But, bigot describes these run-amok leftists just as well.

Leftists are always so preoccupied with labels. To hell with bringing people together. Just label them and stick them in their own separate box somewhere.

When called a "homophobe", my response is that a "phobia" is an irrational fear. I don't "fear" homosexuals; I am just disgusted by them.

Then I suggest that they purchase a dictionary so they can understand the meaning of words. It's fun watching steam vent from their ears!

I wonder if the writer has contacted David Horowitz' group about this. Penn State is in dire need of the Students Bill of Rights. It's also in dire need of some better hiring practices, I suspect that the professor sent the poorly written, vicious e-mails, is an affirmative action hire. That's the only way to account for the poor command of the English language.

I've used the same exact phrasing myself...
