The National Border Patrol Council is the labor organization that represents all 10,000 non-supervisory U.S. Border Patrol employees...

On January 7, 2004, President George Bush outlined his proposals for immigration law reform. The National Border Patrol Council finds his proposal to be a slap in the face to each and every man and woman who has ever worn the Border Patrol uniform. Border Patrol Agents risk their lives on a daily basis protecting the citizens of the United States, and many have lost their lives doing so. The President has apparently decided that cheap labor and votes outweigh obedience to laws and the sacrifices of dedicated law enforcement officers...

BumPing!!!

Don’t be fooled by President George W. Bush’s January 7, 2004 attempt to redefine amnesty as “placing undocumented workers on the automatic path to citizenship.” Webster’s dictionary correctly defines amnesty as “the act of an authority (as a government) by which pardon is granted to a large group of individuals.”

Under Section 1325(a) of Title 8 of the United States Code, “any alien who enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers, or eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers, or attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact” is guilty of a misdemeanor for the first offense and a felony for each subsequent offense.

President Bush’s proposal to “offer legal status, as temporary workers, to the millions of undocumented men and women now employed in the United States” would unjustly reward these criminals and encourage millions of others to break our laws in the hope of yet another amnesty. After all, Congress granted amnesty to nearly three million illegal aliens in 1986, and has never taken any meaningful steps to stem the tide of illegal immigration.

A union leader representing a branch of the American Federation of Government Employees, AFL-CIO. You will find they are hardly big advocates of conservative ideas. But since the Communist Party is against President Bush we should expect to see some of their articles posted, too, eh?

The USBP are brave law enforcement officers, who sometimes pay with their lives to enforce U.S. law. It must be rough for them to see a U.S. president describe the violators of that law, the people the officers get killed catching, as "heroes."

Nowhere in his speech of January 7th does he use that word. "Their search for a better life is one of the most basic desires of human beings." He just correctly stated that for most of those they deal with, their motivations are good.

..amnesty by another name is still amnesty. The border guards have a hard row to hoe. They are basically hamstrung but undermanning and underfunding.
