The other major factor standing in the way of democracy-building efforts in Iraq is the "ethnic diversity" of their society. Unfortunately, we are sliding toward the possibility of a civil war there between Kurds, Shiites, and Sunnis. Low-level interethnic attacks have already begun, and U.S. troops in the middle of it scares the hell out of me.

Japan and Germany were/are ethnically and religiously homogeneous, in addition to their other pro-democracy advantages circa post-1945. The comparisons between postwar Germany/Japan and postwar Iraq -- well, gimme a break.

So I knew there would be a personal price for opposing the war, and I was prepared to pay it. But as a lover of the rough and tumble of public debate and the contest of ideas, I am disappointed at what is happening in my industry.

Looks like he knew what he was doing. I have never heard of him either though and he didn't mention anything about his ratings in the article which is a pivotal question.

They actually have a decent line-up. My dad *always* listened to Bob Grant when I was a kid -- I can still hear his voice in my head. It's telling me to kill the leftists... (just kidding!)

Did you hear Brian Whitman and Curtis Sliwa do their Michael Jackson schtick?

It was so beyond hysterical I could barely breathe.

They filled in for Sean Hannity during the holiday break.

Good grief. Terrell has his own radio show?

I'd sooner gargle with razor blades than listen to that raving madman.

Sometimes when he argues with leftists Hannity does not even bother to talk in sentences-he yells out prhases-and such over and over.

So if he has a lefty talking about the economy Hannity can only seem to respond along these lines "Oh yea?! Tax cuts, economy up, unemployment down, poll numbers up!-respond to that Mr Leftist caller" and if the Leftist disagrees Hannity again repeats verbatim "Oh yea?! Tax cuts, economy up, unemployment down, poll numbers up!-respond to that Mr Leftist caller" and I have to wonder if he is just reading off bullet points and not able to make deeper case like say Rush who is a master broadcaster/wordsmith. Hannity is liked because he is politically correct in being a conservative, not because he is entertaining.

If Opie and Anthony ever get back on the air they will blow his ratings away.

Why should it matter one way or the other to Bush? We knew he had WMD's during the first Bush administration (what on earth do you think caused the Gulf War Syndrome if not accidently exploding hidden caches?), we knew he had WMD during the Clinton administration, in 1998 Clinton used that as the reason for bombing and all the european intelligence agencies agreed with him. Why would Bush not believe it?

He never said we were going to war because of WMDs, he said we were RESUMING the 1990 war because Saddam would not comply with 1) the surrender agreement he signed in 1990 to keep us from going to Baghdad) and 2) because he broke 17 UN resolutions, including the one that said there would be serious consequences if he did not comply.

Now I'm sure that the WMDs were a reason, but it was never stated as such.

There's no accounting for taste. Or the decisions of program managers at radio stations.

Goyette just wasn't my cup of tea. But being from the DFW radio market has spoiled me so far as talk show hosts are concerned.

His comments about Magic Johnson were so over the top, it helped Grant out the door.

Have had some running email arguments with Kuby. He is so intellectually dishonest it's not worth the time to bring up a single issue with him.

Hypocrite is the nicest thing I can call the america hating commie.

Usually it's more than program managers. clear Channel manages their stations as clusters within sub clusters. They may be locally managed, but someone manages that station within a group. Then they are manageed from a program perspecitve. So the top 40 station in the same building as the talk station may have a different sub management, even though they may share the same general manager. It's all quite confusing.

And Kuby was sued for trying to scam Kunstler's wife out of her share of the firm's income.

I like Medved and Hewitt, but Laura Ingraham gets old real quick. Just for fun, count how many times she says "elite" on her show! As for Charles, given his time shift, its harder to get the same quality of guests as during drive time. I don't get to hear him much as he is on when I am doing other things. He does have a good weekly feature called Charles Angels with 3 women columnists discussing local stuff.

I usually don't have a problem with tinfoilers. Sometimes I really like them because they're so complex in their thinking. But tinfoil and outright misrepresentation are two completely different things.

I listened to the guys 5 days a week for years and heard him getting more and more rabid.

I'm sorry the guy has lost his job, but perhaps it will give him the opportunity to broaden out a bit. His opinions just keep getting narrower and narrower. Not at all pleasent to listen to while driving.

That spoof hour was HYSTERICAL. Brian Whitman was thinking of putting it on CD or posting it online. I would buy that CD if he ever did it. Curtis is a hoot (and almost got canned too for it!) LMAO... doodoo feces everywhere...
