The President made two public appearances today, one at the U.S. Department of Commerce with a group of female small business owners, where he talked about owning and running your own business, and the optimistic future of the U.S. economy
and later at the White House in the East Room with the National Catholic Education Association on the occasion of their 100th Anniversary. The President spoke of the high quality, and moral guidance of parochial education, and its importance to the country.
This afternoon, President and Mrs. Bush boarded Air Force 1 and headed for their ranch in Texas for the weekend before they leave for Mexico next week.
Enjoy this MUCH needed visit to Sanity Island as you soak up your Daily Dose of Dubya!!

QUOTE of the DAY: Catholic schools carry out a great mission, to serve God by building knowledge and character of our young people. It's a noble calling. It's an important part of the fabric of America. By teaching the Word of God, you prepare your students to follow a path of virtue and compassion and sacrifice for the rest of their lives. And by insisting on high standards for academic achievement, Catholic schools are a model for all schools around our country. (Applause.)

Sure wish I knew how to scan; there is a ROFL comic on the editorial page of the Columbus, NE Telegram tonight. I think the artist is "Holbert" and it also says "Boston Herald" so maybe someone out there with more computer smarts can find and post it. But I'll attempt to convey the humor by describing it.
The scene is a doctor's office, and Howard Dean is sitting on the exam table yelling obscenities interspersed with the words "Bush" "Cheney" "tax Cuts" etc. and there is smoke coming out of his head (not too hard to picture yet, is it!)
The doctor is looking at his clipboard, which has a piece of paper titled "Dems" on it. The dr. is saying, "The results are back. You've tested positive for "Mad Jackass Disease" . . . there's been an outbreak, but not enough to change the election!"
I LOVE IT!
