Ex-Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill blasts Bush By Corbett B. Daly

WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- Former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill blasted President Bush in a forthcoming book, charging that the president lacks curiosity and does not engage his aides in discussions about policy. In cabinet meetings, Bush is so disengaged that he is "like a blind man in a roomful of deaf people," O'Neill is quoted as saying in The Price of Loyalty, by Ron Suskind. Separately, O'Neill tells CBS News in an interview to be broadcast on 60 Minutes this Sunday that his first meeting with Bush was "mostly a monologue." "I went in with a long list of things to talk about and,... I was surprised it turned out me talking and the president just listening," O'Neill said in the television interview. White House spokesman Scott McClellan declined to comment. "I don't do book reviews," McClellan told reporters at the White House.

What cracks me up is this milqtoast is accusing GWB of being a milqtoast. This guy looked like he was 4 foot tall standing is 6 feet of water from the first day on the job.

"like a blind man in a roomful of deaf people,"

who can read braile at lightening speed.

Did it ever occur to him that Bush thought the guy was an idiot and that he didn't think anything he said was worth listening too ?

Think the blindness O'Neil refers to; lies in his own eye.

Interestesting his take vs the usual Lib diatribe that Bush is no more than a puppet.

Seems when you are not 'with' the President; there is no limit to the ways and means to be against him.

Meeting with a silly singer is a whole different ballgame than meeting with a crook.

Oh calm down bot! Its called pulling your leg. Anyway Bush works on the taxpayer's dime. Its better spent on things other than Bono. If you'd prefer to look the other way by all means do so.

It is apparent you have no point - it's called pointless.

Wow. Slavish in your devotion to Dubya AND without a sense of humor. Tough break kiddo. You make up for those defciencies by an amazing ability to explain as to what purpose Bush achieves by hanging out with an idiot rock star?

"I went in with a long list of things to talk about and,... I was surprised it turned out me talking and the president just listening," O'Neill said in the television interview

Uh, yeah.... Oooo - kayyyyy....

My only reservation about Bush would be that he brought this fool on board in the first place. But that is more than counterbalanced by Bush's dumping him quickly once he realized his mistake.

I thought O'Niell was a olive branch to Greenspan and the (non)Fed. Am I wrong?

O'Neill is a real piece of work. He wonders why Bush let him talk and just listened. The last time I checked, that's why leaders surround themselves with advisors. They get opinions and data from every quarter and then make decisions, also known as leading.

I think eleni121 wonders what the point of your post featuring the image of Bush next to Clinton was since it immediately followed the post (by eleni121) with the image of Clinton and the crook.

I believe you both agree that giving Bono the time of day is pathetic, although if not much time is wasted doing it, it could be argued that there may be some political value for the younger portion of the mindless rabble.

Hastert sealed fate of O’Neill By Jonathan E. Kaplan

Speaker J. Dennis Hastert’s (R-Ill.) fury last week over a federal board’s denial of loan guarantees to now-bankrupt United Airlines helped seal the abrupt departure of Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill from President Bush’s Cabinet, The Hill has learned.

Kantian still cannot find words to explain what he posted. I have asked several times and he continues to deflect. My posting of the 2 crooks was apparently clear: A sitting president using the Oval Office to corrupt our nation.

The photo put up by Kantina makes no sense in that context.

I found this Press Release by the Federal Reserval Board: Release Date: December 20, 2000 For immediate release

Federal Reserve Board Chairman Alan Greenspan issued the following statement today:

In Paul O’Neill, the President-elect has attracted an exceptional and talented person. I look forward to again working closely with an old friend and colleague.

It was Cheney who fired O'Neill.

I'll explain this very simply and slowly as that appears to be the only means of getting a point across.

You post a pic of Bubba the crook shaking hands with an Indo crook along with the comment that hanging out with crooks is much worse than idiot performers

I post a pic of Bush with Bubba the crook with the comment good point. Bush hanging out with crook. Crook Bubba.

That clear things up or will it take me borrowing your crayons and drawing it out for you?

As Bush listened to O'Neill talk, he was probably sitting there quietly thinking, "how did I get stuck with this idiot? What was I thinking? Maybe if I stay quiet, he will finally shut up."

They knew that back in 12/11/2002? I never heard/saw and media coverage of that! Hastert furious? Never heard of such a thing! What is he? The mild mannered Clark Kent in disguise? He always appears so good natured! Maybe he wears a blue body stocking under that suit with a big red "H" on the chest part.

Show me a man/woman who can get good and angry and I'll show you someone getting things accomplished in a hurry!!! Even Jesus kicked butt on the money changers in the Temple!!! It's just hard for me to imagine Hastert kicking anyone's butt, even though he was a wrestling coach.

I wonder if he considers wrestling with Demicrats, "wrestling with the pigs?" My Momma tole me not ta do that as it only makes the pigs happy and would get me dirty!!!
