Liberalism Inoculates Hillary Against Racism Charge

On Saturday, Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) made a racist joke that the great advocate of non-violent revolution Mahatma Gandhi "ran a gas station down in St. Louis for a couple of years." No member of the media reported the slur, and no one in attendance expressed outrage. The story finally appeared two full days later, headlined her apology and included the line:

"After being approached by the Associated Press to clarify the remarks, Clinton suggested in a statement..." Can you imagine anyone in the press "approaching" Trent Lott and asking him to "clarify" his remark on Strom Thurmond, or sitting on the story for two days patiently waiting for him to issue a statement spinning it? Yet not one media outlet in print, radio or TV ran the sound bite - which we have for you in the audio link below - when it happened.

Hillary didn't even need to apologize. She bought a pass with a single, half-hearted "clarification" that Lott couldn't buy with a hundred mea culpas on BET. At the time, Mrs. Clinton said of Lott: "If anyone thinks that one person stepping down from a leadership position cleanses the Republican Party of their constant exploitation of race, then I think you're naïve." You see, because Republicans are all racist, folks. Any Republican you name is more racist than her just by virtue of their party.

Mrs. Clinton is a liberal, as Hillary spinmeister Howard Wolfson said on MSNBC's Scarborough Country, so she can get away with mocking minority groups all she wants. Wolfson made the baseless claim that Mrs. Clinton had "fought for civil rights all her life," and treated the idea that anyone liberal could be racist as the lunatic ravings of hate-filled Republicans who hate all minorities, anyway. Thus, the woman who suggested that this martyr for peace was no more than a gas station attendant gets off scot-free.

This is one we should latch onto with vigor and start a campaign targeting the major media, flooding them with thousands upon thousands of letters and faxes, demanding an explanation for the stark difference in coverage.

a more glaring example of the double standard were the memos the dems passed around saying no minorities will be confirmed for judgeships. Or Robert Byrd being a former clansman, but the media NEVER point that out.

This isn't the first time Hillary has made a racist remark, or probably the last. We all know why she gets away with it...because the press loves her and will tolerate anything she says or does. The NYT can't get enough of her, or Boston either. If one GOP or any conservative for that matter made a remark even partly racist, they would be put on a stake and out to dry. Hillary can and should be taken to task and by us, and we must be on everything she says and does because she is an empty sack and all the talk about years and years of work for the underdog....simply garbage. She rides the coat tails of the pervert she is married to who also has a big mouth.

Hillary Rodham Clinton recently raised some diplomatic eyebrows with her statement that the best hope for peace in the Middle East was the creation of a Palestinian nation. The resulting brouhaha may have quashed a Middle East summit between Israel and the Palestinians, or it may simply have added more fuel to the "HRC is an out-of-control demon" theorizing going around the nation's capital.

On the other hand, saying that a Palestinian state may be necessary to really bring love and understanding to the Levant is hardly the craziest thing ever spoken. It makes you wonder what would happen if Hillary had really put her foot in her mouth. For instance:

Summer 1998: At a University of Michigan Law School commencement, HRC says, "The Supreme Court should be composed entirely of gay justices. The gayer the better."


Result: The Southern Baptists decide to boycott any place Hillary has ever been, since "The footsteps of her over-priced designer shoes pave the road to Hell, and our Disney thing obviously isn't working."
Fall 1998: In a New York City Barnes & Noble promoting her new book It Takes a Heavy-Handed Centralized Bureaucracy, HRC tells the assembled customers, "Children should be raised by the state in barracks financed by increased corporate taxes."

Result: Business leaders complain that corporate taxes are already too high and stop giving money to the Democrats; they are willing, however, to consider changing their minds if the barracks are privatized.
Spring 1999: At an impromptu news conference outside the Little Rock courthouse where the Whitewater grand jury is meeting, HRC says defiantly, "If I had an affair with Vince Foster, it's nobody's business but ours — er, mine."


Result: Right-wing pundits, led by William Safire, go to the White House Residence and make a citizens' arrest of HRC. Pat Buchanan, however, doesn't show up to the scapegoat spit roast, insisting on Crossfire that the First Lady was clearly joking because she obviously is a lesbian.
Summer 1999: On a state visit to mend relations with India, HRC says, while chowing down on a mouthful of lamb with curry, "The best hope for peace in South Asia is for India and Pakistan to be reunited, by force if necessary."


Result: The President of India threatens war unless Chelsea Clinton marries his 11-year-old son. Young Clinton's fiancÈ Matthew Pierce is despondent, but he is soon mollified by being made "Secretary of Sensitive Athletes," a new cabinet-level post.
So cheer up, Madeleine Albright. Things could be worse.
