Thanks; good site and explanation of how those pics should look. I also question the "blue" sky; Mars has a very tenuous atmosphere, so I doubt that it will be as light as the Earth sky -- I would expect a darker hue, and a tendancy toward rust-red with the dust picked up by the winds.

If it is really a hole in the rock

Is there a cigar nearby with Clinton's fingerprints thereon?

I want to say to you that I am sorry for posting images
that seem to wild and loco. I got carry away with these
images that I posted them without thinking, so please find it in your heart to forgive me...

I know this , we need to fund NASA and JPL more and provide
them with more funds to explore Mars and other planets with
rovers, this way we can learn about our past, and learn from there mistakes and learn to live with each other without fighting and killing each other off. We can do it, but the question is "will we do it?"

I pray to my father (God) maybe we can learn to love more ?
if not ?, Earth might look like Mars ?

Jesus, I love you !! Vet out...

"BTW, Thanks for helping make this country the kind of place where you can enjoy this scenery without a lot of whacko's and landmines being scattered all over the place!"

Those are some awesome photos! And I appreciate the thanks but the real Hero's are the ones that are deployed in the war on terrorism. My prayers and best wishes are always with them. We all contribute to this great country in many different ways. Thank God for conservatives and common sense people like freerepublic!

"I ran across these pictures last night and thought you might like to see them. They were taken from the Mars Pathfinder Lander. They look like they have been magnified many times, so I imagine that both of the moons of Mars are only visible as a speck in the sky when you view them from the surface."

Those are pretty cool! The only real thoughts I had on the visualization of the two moons before were worded by Isaac Asimov!

It is official! NASA has released color photos on the MER homepage featuring the named rocks that were selected as possible science targets for the Spirit Rover. Now that it is official, I will no longer use the name "Rectangle Hole Rock" and will call the rock by its NASA given name "Sushi". So, without any further delay, may I present, "Adirondack", "Sashimi" and Sushi".

"Adirondack" (Click Image For Full Size)

"Sashimi" and "Sushi" (Click Image For Full Size)

After a Sunday drive, the rover arrived at the rock "Adirondack", where it will pause to find out what the rock is made of, perhaps as early as Wednesday. Scientists believe it is made of a volcanic rock called basalt. The rocks "Sashimi" and "Sushi" weren't chosen because they didn't have good surfaces for grinding using Spirit's RAT (Rock Abrasion Tool).

According to various news reports, once Spirit is done with "Adirondack", the rover should trundle off again to examine a second patch of fine-grained soil no more than a yard away. NASA has not specified if "Sashimi" and "Sushi" are still targets for Spirit.

Don't be sorry for posting images. I might not agree with your interpretation of them, but you shouldn't feel bad for posting them. I could totally understand getting carried away posting stuff. Exploring Mars is such an exciting thing and I myself have a hard time keeping calm when I see new pictures from the Martian surface.

Anyway, there is nothing to apologize for so don't sweat it. =)

Wow! Sounds like you have quite the setup. At some point I will be able to get a 6.3MP digital camera. For the time being however, I am forced to use a 3MP HP Photosmart. If you don't want to say, it is fine, but how much did you pay for your beast?

I just want to say I think it was very unfair for you to chacterize my thread as worthy of a "Just Damn" ping. You know nothing about me, or the manner in which I post. I am guessing you probably never looked at this thread again after you pinged all your buddies either. Anyway, I just wanted to make my peace.
