The Family Pride Coalition announced it has picked Father's Day weekend, June 17-20, for its first-ever gathering at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. "This official Family Pride event...has been specially designed for LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) parents and their families," the group said in a press release.
The Family Pride gathering will take place two weeks after "Gay Days" at Disney World -- an annual June event since 1991.
Family Pride said its weekend will include a welcome reception, educational workshops presented by the Family Pride Coalition, a family dance, a kids' night out, family brunches, the Family Pride Coalition's 25th anniversary gala dinner, and all the fun of the Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts' attractions.
"Disney has been a wonderful support in the planning of a very special and exciting weekend for our families," said Aimee Gelnaw, executive director of the Family Pride Coalition.
The Family Pride Coalition, an advocacy group, says it is dedicated to advancing the well-being and the equality of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered parents and their families through mutual support, community collaboration, and public understanding.
Conservative groups have long blasted Disney World for its annual Gay Day event, which is not sponsored by Disney World, but which is implicitly endorsed by the Disney people, conservatives complain.
Critics are troubled that Disney allows its name to be used in connection with the "Gay Days" event.
"Let's be honest," Christian Action Network President Martin Mawyer told CNSNews.com last year. "Disney would never allow an event to be called 'KKK Days at Walt Disney World...Disney would use every legal muscle within their power to have their name removed from that event."

Yes, gay people like to go to Disney Land. More power to them. If you don't want to see gay people, don't go to Disney Land during Gay Days or Family Pride.

Someone should schedule a "STRAGHT DAYS" event and see if Disney embraces that.

Straight Days at DL is pretty much the entire rest of the year. Why not let them gather for one week of the year so that they can enjoy each other's company? Then, the park goes back to normal.

My wife and I went to New Orleans for our honeymoon . Coincidently was also Bondage/Gay Pride weekend. When we drove into town my wife and I noticed alot of short leather shorts on guys. I knew something was up. We had a good time, though. It made for some interesting people watching.

If you don't want to see gay people, don't go to Disney Land during Gay Days or Family Pride. Or better yet, don't go at all.

"This official Family Pride event...has been specially designed for LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) parents and their families," the group said in a press release. I believe it was O'Reilly that showed (with appropriate fuzzying) some of what transpired at the last Gay Day in Disneyland. If this turns out anything remotely similar, the Child Protective Services must be there!

Someone should schedule a "STRAGHT DAYS" event and see if Disney embraces that."Straight Days" runs during the other 50 weeks of the year. I mean, I've actually seen straight couples kissing on more than one occasion. I saw a guy french-kissing his girlfriend on the "Haunted Mansion" ride. Can you imagine??!?

Disney embraces but one thing. Dollars.
It's a public accomidation, and as such, if the extended Queer Eye Fan Club and Bondage Society decides to go there, as long as they pay the posted price, Disney will welcome them just like any other customer.
The trick is, to know when they're on town, and arrange to be elsewhere at the time. . .

Unfortunately, most people don't know when these "days" are occurring so they don't plan their vacations around them. Imagine their reactions when their children ask, "Mommy, why is that daddy kissing another daddy?"
I want to take my 6 year old to Disney this summer and will make sure to stay clear of these dates, however if I had not stumbled on this thread I might not have known when these events took place.

Straight Days at DL is pretty much the entire rest of the year. Negative. There are no Straight celebrations endorsed by Disney.

Straight Days at DL is pretty much the entire rest of the year.Really? Is that how it's advertised? For being a family-friendly company, they sure embrace some demented ideals. Disney thrives on the reputation of being a place for families, for making family films, childrens' toys and games, etc. Do you not see anything remotely screwy with their total acceptance of these "LGBT" types?

New Orleans is not marketed as a family destination.
To: TonyRo76
Yea you can thank mike. He is more concerned with the gays and lesbos than the families.
If the price for admitance keeps going up, the park will return to the swamp from which it came.

New Orleans is not marketed as a family destination. You are correct. It's widely known pretty much as a city of debauchery.
