Email/Letter writing campaign against The President's plan for immigration
Myself

Posted on 01/07/2004 7:45:17 PM PST by Remember_Salamis

Has anybody started an email/letter writing campaign in response to the president's proposed immigration initiative?

We need to show the president that he can't take advantage of his conservative base.

"If we really need a huge influx of foreign workers to grow our economy, then let's bring them in legally."

They are already here!

What part of that do you not understand?

The problem is what to do about those who are already here, and I mean DO.

"Dr. Don Huddle of Rice University."

Dr. Don Huddle is Rice University?

And you missed the leading sources: Center for Immigration Studies, Washington, DC. Federation of American Immigration Reform.

How transparent of you.

Universities like, Rice and Harvard, typically do not let their professors to use the school’s name on their work unless their research is pier reviewed. They do this to protect themselves from embarrassment like Emory went through when it came out that their professor faked the research on guns in colonial America. It’s obvious that you have never had any contact with a quality school, so it’s understandable that you wouldn’t know that.

The Center for Immigration Studies, and the Federation of American Immigration Reform are not anti-immigrant as you try to claim. They are anti-criminal. Rice and Harvard would not have any association with an anti-immigrant group. That wouldn’t be politically correct. They have no trouble associating their name with anti-criminal groups.

There is a big difference between law-abiding immigrants who follow the law, apply to immigrate and wait their turn, and the criminals who push ahead of the non-criminals, break numerous laws, and are a stain on society. Nobody minds non-criminal immigrants coming here. Law-abiding people don’t like having criminals slithering around their neighborhood.

They don’t like it when the criminals are homegrown. Nor do they like it when some cesspool of a country is encouraging their criminals to come here.

"Universities like, Rice and Harvard, typically do not let their professors to use the school’s name on their work unless their research is pier reviewed."

If this man is writing an article, he can use his title, and mention his place of employment without it meaning that the University stands by his statements.

"It’s obvious that you have never had any contact with a quality school"

That's funny, what's truly obvious is that I am starting to get under your skin. It's going to get worse.

"The Center for Immigration Studies, and the Federation of American Immigration Reform are not anti-immigrant as you try to claim. They are anti-criminal."

ROTFLMAO!!!!!

They are against ALL immigration...period.

"Rice and Harvard would not have any association with an anti-immigrant group."

Let's see, you are insinuating that the fact that Rice and Harvard were mentioned as sources for the same article means that they actively approved of their being mentioned in the same breath as these two xenophobic organizations?

Did you also have to get their approval to mention them alongside Xenophobes, Inc. in your response here?

"Nobody minds non-criminal immigrants coming here."

Well, your heroes over at the Center for anti-Immigration Studies, and the Confederation on American Immigration Reform do.

It's becoming painfully obvious you may have driven by a school or two in your lifetime, but that's about it.

OK Luis, let’s see if we can make this easy enough for even you to understand. Professors have contracts with universities. Prestigious universities (that means good ones) typically have a clause regulating how the university’s name is used in outside research.

Dr. Lott was a professor at Harvard when he and I were on the same speaking schedule, and I fell to me to introduce him. I couldn’t introduce him as Dr. Lott of Harvard because he was speaking about his book, More Guns Less Crime that hadn’t been pier reviewed yet. Harvard didn’t just dream this up when they hired Dr. Lott.

You may not be able to distinguish between law-abiding immigrants and criminals but most Americans can. Neither of these groups is against all immigrants as you claim. They are against criminals and immigrants who come to be cared for by our welfare system. They are very much in favor of a warm reception for law-abiding, industrious, skilled, immigrants.

We have enough of our own criminals and lazy welfare sponges without importing more. Those of us who pay the taxes that support these drains on society can’t don’t want any more of them heaped on us. Those of us who are law-abiding, don’t want any more criminals in the country.

I don’t know why that is too hard for you to understand. Are you one of the criminal employers who is making a living from employing the illegal aliens? Is that why you are such a big supporter of these criminals?

The bigger picture here is the fact that "foxy" expects to knock down all the opposition in Ten Years or less. Even today they express their ingrate attitude by saying a day fter this infamy that they plan to move far beyond this initial proposition as soon as possible. The outcome of this Socialist Plan has been determined for a long long time and now we are just finding out what is already agreed upon! Secret deals are already approved and we get to pay the tab; and are expected to shut up and pay to the nose! This is the centerpiece legislation for the The New World Order Remake of North America.

"Professors have contracts with universities. Prestigious universities (that means good ones) typically have a clause regulating how the university’s name is used in outside research."

I'll type slowly so that you can keep up.

I can extrapolate information to support my op-ed article (that was what you posted by the way) from published studies, and I am not required to actually get permission from the good Doctor's employer to do so, and that information does not have to actually take a side, but I can use it to support my opinion.

The professor from Rice did not write the article you posted...did he?

Your good Dr. Lott was speaking about his book, which is quite different from me writing an article that uses data from Dr. Lott's book...Harvard could not stop me from doing so.

I am a realist, aware that we need a realistic solution to the problem of 10 million illegal aliens living on our soil, I don't waste my time with useless ideological mental self-eroticism, I believe in the action of DOING.

If we have a problem with these people coming and staying here illegally, while simultaneously realizing that they do in fact benefit the economy, then I say we allow them to come and provide us with the benefits of their labor, then allow them to go home...with the promise that they may come back as long as they come to work.

First, I didn’t post the article. If you go back to post #393 you find the article. I just commented on your ridiculous assertion that the Center for Immigration Studies, the Federation of American Immigration Reform, Rice University, the San Diego Union Tribune, Harvard University, and the National Academy of Sciences are “anti-immigrant”, and didn’t do that until post #398.

Second, you make a major mistake when you say; “while simultaneously realizing that they do in fact benefit the economy,” the criminals are a drain on the economy not a benefit. They use more than they contribute.

On top of that, they weaken the fiber of our society. Just by being here they cause more crime. For starters if they weren’t here, the criminals who employ them wouldn’t turn to crime, because the temptation wouldn’t be there, and the means to commit the crime wouldn’t be there. An employer can’t illegally hire a criminal if the criminal isn’t here to be hired. Neither criminal alien, nor the criminal employer can evade employment taxes if the criminal alien didn’t come here illegally.

It also sends a message to people throughout our country that breaking the law is acceptable behavior. Rewarding the criminals for breaking the law by allowing them to stay here sends an even worse message. It sends the message that crime pays and the way to get ahead here is to be a criminal.

Plus it is a slap in the face of every immigrant who followed the rules and came here legally. People like my sister-in-law’s father, who waited 7 years to get a visa to come here to work. It burns his butt, that friends and relatives of his are still in Italy, having given up on waiting for their papers, and criminals are swarming all over the country. You don’t want to hear his thoughts on rewarding the criminals for their crimes.

Then there is the question of how will they enforce the new laws. If Bush and Ashcroft are so incompetent that they can’t enforce the current law, how are they going to manage to enforce the new law?

No, the solution to the problem is to enforce the laws we have on the books now. Then when we rid our selves of the criminals, let law-abiding people apply to come here.

This is what I wrote to GWB.....not that it will matter a hill of beans....in any context....sigh

"Mr President;

I am appalled and very disappointed in your decision to grant illegal immigrants ANY kind of amnesty or federal help.

They have BROKEN the LAW and deserve NOTHING from our hard earned tax monies.

Here in the Houston, Texas area illegal immigrants are bankrupting our health and educations systems."

We will be writing to our congress people to VETO any legislation to help this ILLEGAL way of life.
Not that Kevin Brady will do much in this instance.......sigh.......

He will not ever get our vote again.

My family who came here LEGALLY over many years since 1942, have had NOTHING handed to them by way of taxpayers.
In fact, they had to PAY to get here, and have enough money in a secured account to get back to their homeland if they required taxpayer assistance.

Your proposal spits in their faces!

Please RETRACT this very bad proposal! How about a proposal that MEXICO give their people some incentive to stay in their OWN country? >br>Do away with the graft and corruption?

Luis.......ya listening?

no anything?

No, actually I did not say that, I said the numbers were too high and not adjusted.(economics 1) Accounting 2)

I suspect they will use emergency room services just like most indigenous Americans do.

Have you ever tried to qualify for food stamps? The regs are so strict that a poor man has to sell down his assets. Besides, food stamps are a great program that is run by the Agriculture dept. and helps like a government subsidy for agriculture.

As far as (AFDC)welfare is concerned, we have cut back on that and most have no jobs. The ones that do get it for the kids.(fatherless)

Mexicans and other immigrants have better values than to abandon loads of kids like others we know.

The numbers reflect studies made, mostly in California and reflect estimates of large unemployed populations that they have and have had for years.

Bush's proposal deals with working, verifiable employed people who may have some problems but they will be seasonal and I just don't think that when added to the contributions will be anything to worry about compared to the problems we have now.

If we keep the status quo then the costs will continue to rise. This plan mitigates those costs, it does not increase them.
