Most second and third generation Latinos of whatever background do not speak Spanish very well if at all.

Almost everywhere I go in Latin America I can speak English with the locals. It's nice speaking Spanish but English opens the door to economic success everywhere in the New World except maybe in the former French colonies and Cuba.

Is there a "needle in the haystack" argument against this. If we legalize and regulate millions of immigrants that are currently on the outside edge of "legal", won't it make it harder to identify illegals who do not go through any sort of process at all?

POLL WWW.HANNITY.COM

On January 7, 2004 the President unveiled his proposal for temporary workers program for illegal immigrants.

Do you think this will enhance homeland security?

It's no coincidence that the former French colonies and Cuba are economic basket cases.

English is conquering the world as the prime language, yet people here are terrified that somehow this nation will become a nation of Latinos who speak Spanish. C'mon.

I agree.

In fact, I believe that the hispanic immigrants will follow the model of the Koreans in the 70s-80s.

The first generation will not learn ingles, but will work hard to educate their children who will, in turn, learn English, study hard, and become successful (taxpayers and conservative voters.)

MY comment was directed to the current situation: a huge influx of non-english speakers, doing service-level jobs. When I require these services, my Spanish is invaluable.

Like I said, "this is a tough nut."
