In fact, I believe that the hispanic immigrants will follow the model of the Koreans in the 70s-80s.

The first generation will not learn ingles, but will work hard to educate their children who will, in turn, learn English, study hard, and become successful (taxpayers and conservative voters.)

MY comment was directed to the current situation: a huge influx of non-english speakers, doing service-level jobs. When I require these services, my Spanish is invaluable.

Like I said, "this is a tough nut."

We are past the first generation of "illegals" and I can tell you firsthand that the dropout rate of hispanics in my area schools is astronomical. However break-ins and social service handouts are on the way up. Sorry, I don't buy your theory.
