Did you listen to the speech? It doesn't sound like you did. He said this program requires these TEMPORARY workers to return to their country when the work is done. IT IS NOT a fast track to citizenship, BUSH MADE THAT CLEAR. He wants STRICTER requirements for citizenship, hence bringing in the people you're talking about. It's THE SKY IS FALLING around here, as usual.

And how, pray tell, is he going to enforce that edict? Appeal to their better nature not to stick around? You know once their "time" is up they'll simply work somewhere else off the books.

Oh there are those Freepers who just live and breathe in anticipation of the president doing something with which they can disagree.
Today's their day! No doubt about it......they just want to round up the people and put them in camps awaiting due process.....or perhaps they ought not get due process either.
Another possibility is to bring the troops home from Iraq and Afghanistan and put them on the border between Mexico and the US.....

It sounds to me like a plan to shine a light in the underground cave of immigration and see who's down there -- again Bush did not run on ANY OTHER immigration platform for this in 2000. So if they were expecting land mines and a million man army on the fence to keep "those people" out then they didn't read the fine lines.

Oh no!
Oh no!
Oh no!
Oh no!
Oh no!
They're coming! They're in your neighborhoods! Sleeping on your rooves! Squeegieing your car windows!
Mexicans!
Strange brown people who take siesta and want your women! They're all camped out on the White House lawn
and Laura is serving them Krispy Kremes made by illegal brown people!
"No, really Katie! They like the doughnuts. They do! Why do have such a sour look on your face?"
OH MY GOD WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!
Okay, everybody. Let's all go over to the In-and-Out Burger and demonstrate for guacamole on their cheeseburgers.
Be Seeing You,
Chris

He also made it perfectly clear that they may bring family members along with them(making anchor babies ever so much more convenient). And who is going to send them back when their 3 years is up? I strongly doubt that we will have any better resources or tracking methods to send them back then.

You do know that when you contradict what the Bush-Bashers want to believe, they get really antsy.

Sure he did. And this policy is engraved in stone? Can never be changed?Three years from now he can't say "These "immigrants" have worked hard and made this a better country. Put down roots. bought houses. Have kids in schools and colleges.
We cannot just kick them out!"
Three years from now will be close to the next election, won't it?

He said this program requires these TEMPORARY workers to return to their country when the work is done.So temporary workers who in the past did not return to their country when the work was done, are now going to do just that because Bush said they must? Who would have ever thought the solution to our illegal immigration problem would be so simple?
