Did you see the very short interview Shepard Smith did with the INS point man to the WH...Shep asked him what happens to those who do not register...the INS guy said *they will have a certain amount of time to do so, and if they don't take advantage of it, they are going to be sorry they missed the chance*....there's more to this than meets the eye...more enforce of current laws.

I agree with JD Hayworth, Tom Tancredo and others who support rounding up illegal aliens through enforcement measures existing in American law today. My post at RE:#695 contains some the original legislation that was enacted back in 1986 to combat future immigration problems involving illegal aliens. Holding employers accountable is critical if this new policy will work. Strengthening US border patrol is also critical if this new policy is going to work. This new policy will only flood the US with more and more illegal aliens.
A lot of what PresBush said today sounded great, but he has to backup his rhetoric with actions. After the fiasco of 1986 immigration policy, I don't have a good feeling about this new policy. Giving temporary workers a visa for three years, allowing them to request three year extentions and then allowing them to become a US citizen is backdoor amnesty in my book. These illegals should have to go through the same procedure that all foreigners must go through. It takes years to get a US citizenship and everyone should be held to the same standard. Period!

Karl Rove clearly doesn't believe there are still Reagan Democrats There's a reason Rove is 0-2 in Michigan, and why he polled less than the "weak candidate" Dick Posthumus.

Apply this to legalization of any other crime. Rape, for example. Or tax evasion. Feel dumb yet?
Nah, IMO the dumb person is you for equating a person who cleans toilets or makes beds for an honest days pay to a rapist.

Amnisty is a pardon. It wipes away any wrong doing and makes you legal. This is NOT amnisty. It is a guest worker program that does not lead to citizenship. You have to pay a fee if you are already here. That is the punishment. If you don't have a full time job, you have to go home, that is the OTHER punishment.

There's a reason Rove is 0-2 in Michigan, and why he polled less than the "weak candidate" Dick Posthumus. He's going for a third loss in Michigan, not to mention putting Ohio back in play.

That means even more Mexicans will sneak across the border to undercut those Mexicans in this proposed program.Oh please...this program will relieve the INS backlog so they can have the resources to go after those that did not apply by the deadline.

Look at this: when the illegals become legal workers, they will have to be paid minimum wage, along with all the extras - worker's comp, employment tax, etc. The price of labor just went up. Enter the *next* wave of illegals.... who will work for lower (cash) wages.... and the newly legalized are going to start having trouble finding jobs, too. That's exactly what is going to happen. If many Americans think this Invasion of our country by Mexico is out of hand now (and it is) they will watch in horror at what will unfold shortly. Bush has just opened the Flood Gates.

First we have to beat the Dems before we can purge out RINOs.
We DID BEAT the Dems in 2000. We elected a Republican. Now, he must ACT like a conservative -- or he deserves our wrath! You have the mentality of a slave who dares not criticize a master.

It's already been applied to tax evasion.
To: mystery-ak
That's what I've been trying to tell people but emotions are just so high that I think most of the posters haven't even bothered to find out what this proposal really is.
