Most second generation immigrants will be assimilated. The situation now is utterly different. People can now easily travel and communicate with the home country.
Mexican irredentism will flourish
The southwest is going to turn into "Atzlan"

The unintended consequences and hidden costs of this plan will be staggering. Bringing the underground economy of illegal aliens into full legal status will bring with it enormous expenses. The courts will ensure these people will be treated as citizens in all important respects. Schools and hospitals will have to make immediate provisions for them and all their children without qualification. Look for higher taxes at the state level (being in lower paying jobs, they will paying proprotionately less for the costs of their being here).
They will take on enormously expensive rights granted under liberal Domcrat labor laws. They will organize into unions and use other means to force their wages higher. When they become citizens, they will vote 4 to 1 for liberal Democrats.
This will be the equivalent of bringing an entire new state of 9 million liberal Democrats into the union.

I'm glad you are so optimistic. Welfare statistics prove otherwise. We have a LOT of jobs. But some Americans are too proud to do them. I, too, would gladly chuck my keyboard to work outside. Hard work never hurt anyone. But why work hard if the government gives you a check to sit on your ass?

My program represents the best traditions of our society.

**Pal, if someone offered me enough dough to pick their fruit, I'd chuck this keyboard and put on my overalls. Ain't no job Americans won't do. **
Enough $$? How much is enough?

End the Great Society welfare state and watch those jobs get filled by Americans, with the concurrent benefit of reducing government expenditures, and actually increasing tax revenues.Must. Stop. Making. Sense. Head. Hurting. Holding. Head.

This is pandering in it's purest form. This is where you are wrong.!!!

Today's "immigrants" expect everyone else to speak THIER language, and want to transfer their homeland here. The immigrants of 1891-1920 came here to be real Americans, and build a better nation. The overwhelming number of todays immigrants are here for what they can get at someone elses expense. Former immigrants wanted to build this nation..the illegals have no interest in the future of this nation..they want to work here thats it..
The generation of immigrants before them waited in line for their turn . No other immigrant wanted to return territory to their homeland
I wonder if he really thinks that this nation can follow every one of the Mexicans coming in here? They can not follow the Muslims ...Can you imagine the cost of administration of this program.
This is all a part of the daddy Bushes New World Order..I never did like the original Bush..I now like this one less !

will we block them from rising to our level? No, instead they will be infected with Truth, Justice, and The American Way. They will become Americans.

**Prior to WWI, the German community in Indianapolis published its own German language newspapers. Many of those people who worked in the gardening district near my home never did learn English, except for a few words.**
Likewise with my Serbian grandfather.

If my congressman ( a republican )votes for this I will work to defeat him..and I will sit on my hands as far as the presidency is concerned.Congress won't vote for it and then the Prez is home free with a "humanitarian, compassionate" proposal that just didn't fly yet. How can he lose?

End the Great Society welfare state and watch those jobs get filled by Americans, with the concurrent benefit of reducing government expenditures, and actually increasing tax revenues. Worth repeating.
