Comments? Thoughts?

Any other press worldwide on this? In Tokyo, Japan in Sankei Shimbun News today, for example, they CLEARLY called it, in Japanese, the legalization of millions of illegal aliens, in an effort to secure Latino votes for 2004.

Good catch!

Last night I was trying to read what the Mexican take on this was.

This does not surprise me.

Happy New Year, AIT...haven't spoke at ya in while...I'll wait for a translation..but it occurs to me that evennif Congress shoots it down cold...the mere fact that W proposed it might be enough to get Fox re-elected in Mexico...he was perceived as being in BIG trouble....now, he can say that he's responsible for the process getting started..

This cements it for me – I'm not voting for Bush. Other than the War on Terror – what has GWB done that can be considered conservative? He's done more to push a liberal agenda than a conservative agenda.

I didn't like these stupid liberal policies under Clinton – and just because Bush has an "R" after his name – doesn't mean I will support them now.

De nada...and BTW, to follow my train of thought..is it possible that this whole thing is a present from Bush to Fox?...

Yes, it is a 'regalo' to the Fox. At least, that is how I perceive the second or third paragraph of the article. Sad, but true. We call them as they are here on FR.

It's certainly no gift to the Republic. Nor conservatives in his Bush's own party for that matter!

NO "re-elects" for presidents in mexico, do your 6 yrs, then retire on your 5 Million (US) dollars per yr.

Fox's PAN party lost many seats in the last elections. Looks like the PRI is set to be back in power come 2006.

It is indeed a 'regalo de epiphania' for Senor Fox's PAN party, if anything else (as was brought up, there are term limits in Mexico).

Just in case we need a refresher on why Mr. Bush's plan is bad for this country...Let's review:

Egyptian brothers Mahmud Abouhalima and Mohammed Abouhalima, both here on expired visas, won amnesty under a farmworker program after cooking up bogus claims. They went on to participate in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Section 245(i) beneficiary Hashem Mohamed Hadayet entered with a tourist visa in 1992, "only" overstayed for five years, and then applied successfully for legal permanent residency under 245(i) when his wife hit the Diversity Visa lottery jackpot (another immigration abomination that benefits illegal aliens). He went on to gun down two people at the El Al Israel Airlines counter at Los Angeles International Airport on July 4.

Michelle Malkin
August 2, 2002 The Wall Street Journal's immigration foul http://www.jewishworldreview.com/michelle/malkin080202.asp

What really urinates me off is that radio guys like Hugh Hewitt will do one of the following:

1. Dodge this issue completely by continuing to talk about Howard Dean (who is in the process of committing suicide).

2. Trot out some immigration opponent that is a blatant racist and paint all of the opposition with the same brush.

3. Something about the "political realities" and say, "Well, this is as good as its going to get so you better support our president. After all how much worse would it be with a Democrat...yadda yadda...

4. Maybe have someone like Michelle Malkin on but only in the last 45 minutes of the program when, face it, nobody is listening. It is a reality in talk radio, listenership declines drastically in the evening hours after drive time.

Fox is already a lame duck, even though he has 3 years remaining. He desperately needs a credibility makeover, and Bush is going to be the beautician.

This rush for the border should make the Oklahoma land rush look pretty tame...
Look out property owners along the border...business should be pretty brisk...
