I've looked around the web and today's edition of the Washington Times and found nothing to confirm this story. Also did a search on FR.

Admin Moderator, I know this is sports and I'm not even a football fan, but this would be really big news if it happens. It would have major implications for NASCAR, imo.

I just was on the phone with a customer in Richmond and when he told me this I jumped out of my seat and did an involuntary happy dance.

It does not matter. Gibbs took off because he was facing FA and salary caps. Why put up with that headache when you could walk away a big fat winner? This is NOT the NFL that Gibbs left. Gibbs will not have the luxary of having three teams worth of starting o-linemen. With The Danny and his piss boy Vinny in charge, he will not have one set of starting o-linemen, nor D-linemen, nor any money under the salary cap to get them.

This just made my new year. As a lifelong Redskins fan, it's possible I can now come out of mourning for my team.

Joe Gibbs has the reputation and the clout in the NFL to keep Snyder out of play making decisions. I don't expect to see Snyder meddling much with a team Gibbs runs.

If anyone goes back and looks at Joe Gibbs history with the Redskins, they will see his first year was a failure, after that all winning seasons. I expect the same this time around.

Next year the Skins will continually improve, if they will have a winning season I'm not sure, but the year after they will. The NFL has not passed Joe Gibbs by. A coach with the qualities and talent of Gibbbs does not fall by the wayside.

Hail to the Redskins!!!!!

Hmmmm, If Gibbs can come back, along with the likes of Vermeil, can the return of 'Da Coach', Mike Ditka, to 'Da Bears' be far behind?!?!? The job is still open and they've already interviewed the required two tokens, oops I mean black candidates. And Ditka is an 'offensive' coach (no pun intended) which 'Da Bears' are looking for.

OK I'm kidding. He himself said after the New Orleans fiasco that he can't relate to the players today and 'the game has passed him by'. As he believes in things like practicing, giving the proverbial 110% all the time, actually knowing what play is called and no 'show-boating' (oh, and NO drugs) - while the players are worried about their next endorsement, getting a pinky bruise AND 'show-boating' (I won't go into the drugs). Ya know I'd almost believe it's in NFL contracts now - you make a tackle you get to 'dance', a sack & you do two 'dances' and if you make a touchdown - WOW, you get to call in the Radio City Rockettes and put on and end zone show.

In addition I find it personally offensive that the Detroit Lions have a higher franchise value that the Chicago Bears. Thanks Michael McKaskey & family, you jerks.

I'm assuming he would have to divest himself from his financial interests in the Atlanta Falcons ... could be interesting.

Slightly off topic, but the news in Jacksonville is that former Jaguars coach, Tom Coughlin, is headed to the Giants.

The Moody Blues were a super group and Gibbs was a great singer. I didn't know he switched to football however.

The Redskins were a pitiful team this year even against another mediocre team, the Cowboys. Bill Parcells has transformed Dallas and he isn't through yet. Jerry Jones ran the Cowboys into the ground but Parcells will bring them back. Gibbs will do the same thing with the Redskins. If Gibbs could put up with the tempermental Tony Stewart he can put up with anyone. He'll do fine.

The secret of coaching is a good management ability. You have to have a plan, and to work your plan. What went on in Dallas before Parcells and this year with the Redskins was complete chaos and lack of direction. Gibbs won't have any of that. Good for the Redskins. I'm looking forward to seeing them next year when they face the Cowboys.

In releated news, Joe Theisman, Dexter Manley, and John Riggins are reported to have agreed to come out of retirement to play for their former coach. Theisman, who some have said is one of the most annoying color commentators in all of sports, will leave his job at ESPN to return to the Redskins as the starting quarterback. Manley, who was last seen smoking crack in a well maintained box along the Potamic River, said through his "street bitch," that he will be in shape and ready to play by the spring mini-camp. Riggins who refused to confirm or deny the report, said, "Get the #$&* out of my #$&*ing face before I kick the #$&*ing @!^) out of you."

He's baaaaack! And it looks like he's bringing Joe Bugel back with him! WOO-HOO! I also read where there's talk of bringing Rumm Grimm in from the Steelers, and fitting him in there, too.

Happy, happy, happy, happy..... :-)

Welcome back toe the NFC East, Joe. This should bring back the old days of the Dallas/Washington rivalry. The old hatred is back between the two. Viva la rivalry!!!!!

Phil Simms is on the Imus in the Morning (MSNBC) program for the next 10 minutes or so. My guess is that he will talk about the Joe Gibbs thing.
