This just made my new year. As a lifelong Redskins fan, it's possible I can now come out of mourning for my team.
Joe Gibbs has the reputation and the clout in the NFL to keep Snyder out of play making decisions. I don't expect to see Snyder meddling much with a team Gibbs runs.
If anyone goes back and looks at Joe Gibbs history with the Redskins, they will see his first year was a failure, after that all winning seasons. I expect the same this time around.
Next year the Skins will continually improve, if they will have a winning season I'm not sure, but the year after they will. The NFL has not passed Joe Gibbs by. A coach with the qualities and talent of Gibbbs does not fall by the wayside.
Hail to the Redskins!!!!!

A coach with the qualities and talent of Gibbbs does not fall by the wayside. Agree, and Vermiel proved you can go home again. But pairing the most beloved Redskin (except for maybe Jurgensen) and the most disliked (Snyder) gives me mixed feelings. I've found it hard to root for the team since the money-grubbing Snyder took over (Steinbrenner without the wins), even though I attend the games.

Here is to all you Redskins fans that have been talking about Gibbs beating the Cowboys. He was 11-12 versus the Cowboys. The only team he had a losing record to with more than 2 games played. Consider the Cowboys were under .500 from 86-90 at the end of the Landry era and the rebuilding start of Jimmy Johnson and you will wonder the why the Redskins fans think that Gibbs can beat the Cowboys? I enjoy the rivalry with the Redskins being a Cowboy fan but to be honest it hasn't been much of a rivalry lately. We have been kicking the crap out of the Redskins for the last 8 years. Even with Washington's best coach ever they were under .500 to the Cowboys. Bring back Gibbs, Thiesmen, Monk or whoever you have to find to make this rivalry a rivalry again!
