Restrictive Homeschool Legislation to be introduced Thursday (NJ)

Please see reply 149 for updated information. AM

From the HSLDA E-lert Service...

January 6, 2004

Dear HSLDA members and friends:

A bill that would force New Jersey homeschool children to submit to the same statewide assessment tests required of public school students, and force their parents to give the local school board proof the student had received an annual medical examination, is set to be introduced in the New Jersey legislature this Thursday.

The bill would also give the State Board of Education power to impose regulations on homeschool families. Homeschooled students would be forced to take the assessment tests in a public school. (For full text of bill, go to http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=1257)

Your help is needed immediately to convince the sponsors of the bill, AB 4033, that it should NOT be introduced.

Action Requested

1. Immediately call all the sponsors of the bill (contact information is below).

2. Explain to them that the bill should NOT be introduced. Your message can be as simple as, "Please withdraw as sponsor of AB 4033 and do all you can to prevent it from being introduced as planned this Thursday. The bill violates federal law and could cause the loss of federal money."

3. Pass this message along to others.

Contact information for sponsors:

1. Assemblywoman Loretta Weinberg (D) (201) 928-0100 , AswWeinberg@njleg.org

2.Assemblyman Gordon M. Johnson (D) (201) 541-1118, AsmJohnson@njleg.org

3. Assemblywoman Joan M. Quigley (D) (201) 217-4614, AswQuigley@njleg.org

Reasons to Oppose AB 4033

1. HR 1, signed by President Bush exactly one year ago, prohibits states from requiring that homeschoolers take the state assessment designed for public school students. New Jersey would lose federal funds if AB 4033 is enacted, since it violates this requirement.

2. State assessment tests are designed to test material taught in the public school curriculum. Homeschool children do not use the public school curriculum. It would be unfair to test them on material not covered in their individual homeschool programs.

3. The statute does not say what score is needed to "pass." The Board of Education however, may have power under the bill to determine the passing score. A passing score imposed by a bureaucracy would not take into account the individual learning characteristics and abilities of each unique child.

4. No state requires an annual medical examination for homeschoolers.

5. This bill is being introduced at the very end of the legislative session, and it is highly unlikely it would pass before the session ends in a few days. Often bills introduced at the end of a session are to "test the waters" for filing the bill in the next session. We need to send a "tidal wave" message that this bill should not be introduced-now or ever.

Thank you for standing with us for freedom in New Jersey!

Sincerely,

Scott Woodruff

HSLDA Staff Attorney

If someone can explain why standardized testing and physicals performed by your own doctor are so terrible

Having to take the states tests almost never hold up in court because the do not just test academics, they also test social non-Christian ethics that home schoolers will never answer the way the testers want. Then they put requirements at some later time tied to passing the state test ( the child can not be home schooled unless he passes the test even though not all public or private school children pass not to mention that many are being home schooled because they were not passing in the public schools).

It comes down to who owns the child the parents or the state. Who has the say in the way they are taught and raised. How much interference are you willing to allow the state in raising your child? When is enough enough? Many have not really thought through how many parental rights they have given away to the state when they send a child to public schools....Physical at the beginning of the year, forced immunizations, compliance to state standards and testing that effects greatly the outcome of life opportunities whether or not child learning style is compatible with this type of schooling, once at the school child can be questioned without your permission by social services about your family if questions not pleasing to family services child can be taken. The list goes on and on, there are books that do a better job of laying it all out than I have.

Thanks for the explanantion. Basically they are undermining clear thinking and genuine knowledge via these tests. Would that be the right take?

Also, yearly physicals performed by the family doctor don't strike me as being terrible either. Why are people upset over this?

****

As far as physicals go, why should the state mandate when you take your kids to the doctor? Some states, while they have them there, will recommend that the children are asked questions like are there guns in the home, etc. It's their foot in the door.

Right, the state has no business mandating when you take your kids to the doctor. Many doctors, like "educators," have taken on the role of agents of the nanny-state. They assume that parents are bad, ignorant, or neglectful, and that all children are in need of the enlightened ministrations of the state.

A couple of years ago I had to take my then 16-year son for a mandatory sports physical. The doctor asked him, out of the blue, "Have you ever thought of committing suicide?" Let it be known that my son was clearly a happy, well-adjusted kid, and there were no symptoms that should have provoked such a question.

And this was while I was in the room with him! I wonder what even more intrusive questions these doctors-morphed-into-social-workers ask when you're not in the room with your child?

As long as the state is willing to give each homeschooled child equal funding dollars I'm all for it.

Nope...bad deal. That's the kind of Faustian bargain that got the public schools all screwed up, remember?

Me, as a homeschooler I'll gladly continue to pay my way for our own homeschool curriculum AND fork over money to the local school district as property taxes, as long as the local government will keep their paws off my kids.

I am not a homeschooling mom (single, have to work, I'm extremely jealous of those that are able and do), but I am a supplement-schooling mom (provide in-addition-to public school) and my kids are in a magnet program.

That said, I just wanted to take this opportunity to applaud all of you for everything you do for your children and encourage you to not give up the fight for that right (which it IS a right to raise your own children.) Stand tall!

What a joke. Subjecting American children to the psychopolitics of totalitarian, secular humanist, statist education is absurd. The constitution grants no such authority.>>>

The medical provisions are just plain stooooopid. But as for the achievement tests why not bring them on, with the proviso that the state advertises the results in the newspapers at its expense. The homeschool kids will blow away the pubskewlers.

It's purley intrusive and stupid. My own kids in public school don't even have to proof annual medical exams.

That is a great suggestion. This is a war for our culture...and we not only have to protect our children from the indoctrination, we have to do what we can to stop the indoctrination and destroy the establishments assaulting us.

You are right. I was just saying that as a "calling their bluff" effort. There is no possible way they would give homeschoolers thousands of dollars. Of course they would never think it could possible cost that much to educate a kid if the situation were reversed -- they gave money to us.

But where I really disagree with you is on the glad to fork over my property tax money issue. I am NOT glad to do it. They do not care about my values enough to even make public schooling acceptable to me. No way am I glad to support their horrible agenda.

I believe the thing about the annual physicals is to prove to the state (through the government school system) that the children are healthy because they are not being monitored by either private, parochial, or public school officials. I find it insulting.

Well, let the state pay for them then. Let them pay for the dental too. Parents have to get something for their tax money.

I wouldn't fuss about the annual physical and I would provide lots of statistics on how well homeschooled children do in college.

The annual physical is the key point of contention here. The notion that a child must be subjected to a state-ordered physical exam without any probable cause of a crime is utterly incompatible with the principles of a free nation.

'the Canadian government came out with a ridiculous mandate that "homeschooling families that accepted the $600 were forbidden to teach religion to their children," because the public school children were not allowed to be taught any religion.'

Won't be that way here. Only CHRISTIAN religion will be disallowed here:

'4. Noachides, generally speaking, should not limit the number of children they have. Moreover, a proper Torah education for their children is absolutely essential. Ultimately, such a Torah-learning program will be similar to the programs for Jewish children, but with many important differences.

Right now, a supplemental daily HOME-SCHOOLING Torah program is being developed and used to teach NOACHIDE CHILDREN. All parents must rapidly get involved, teaching their children at least one hour per day (after school, for example) according to this program. As the number of participating families grows, it will soon be possible to organize full-time Noachide chedarim (day schools for grade-school children) in many communities. This approach to education, based on the three-thousand-year-old JEWISH yeshiva system, DRASTICALLY MINIMIZES SECULAR STUDIES (MATH, SCIENCE, HISTORY, ENGLISH, SOCIAL STUDIES, COMPUTERS, AND OTHER TECHNICAL STUDIES) IN FAVOR OF TOTAL IMMERSION IN TORAH, the Word of G-d. This includes written Torah, oral Torah, HALACHA (RELIGIOUS LAW), Hebrew language, etc.; this philosophy of education is FUNDAMENTALLY OPPOSITE the one used in public and private schools and in standard HOME-SCHOOLING programs....' http://www.noahide.com/minimum.htm

President Bush just issued his fourth proclamation to celebrate these laws and the Rabbi Schneerson's birthday (he died in 1994 I believe, but the Talmudists decided he was the best person to be the Messiah, and they are awaiting his resurrection.) http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/04/20040402-16.html

Noachides, as I understand it, are those who have 'become disillusioned with Christianity' and look to the Jews and Torah [and the Talmud] for some sort of salvation. Christians are not righteous and do not inherit the world to come, according to the sages. Christians, you see, are IDOLATORS and should be punished:
http://www.noahide.com/xmas.htm

Here are some of the people in our government who have endorsed it [i.e., made it law]. Since it IS an election year, some of you might want to ask your elected leaders why we can't post the Ten Commandments in our court houses and schools, and can't mention the name of Jesus Christ except to curse Him in the public schools, and you might also ask why our Supreme Court Justices hosted a big shin-dig for the Talmudic Institute at the US Supreme Court, if there is to be a separation of church and state. I mean why should the taxpayers support their fun and games at the Supreme Court, and where is it written other than in the annals of Congress and the White House that our country is founded on the seven noahide laws administered by Jewish rabbis? I can't even find anything of the sort in my Bible. Inquiring minds want to know.

Noahide Laws compliments of Congress: http://www.come-and-hear.com/supplement/noahide/Lubavitch-1989-1990-101stCongress.htm

BTW, grafted, this is not just a US thing you know. There is an international scroll or something to uphold this law. A couple of interesting related links here: http://www.mikenew.com/believe-nwo.html

Plank of the communist manifesto

10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children's factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, etc.

I'd like to add to that if I could:

1932 -- New books are published urging World Order:

Toward Soviet America by William Z. Foster. Head of the Communist Party USA, Foster indicates that a National Department of Education would be one of the means used to develop a new socialist society in the U.S.

The New World Order by F.S. Marvin, describing the League of Nations as the first attempt at a New World Order. Marvin says, "nationality must rank below the claims of mankind as a whole."

Dare the School Build a New Social Order? is published. Educator author George Counts asserts that:

"... the teachers should deliberately reach for power and then make the most of their conquest" in order to "influence the social attitudes, ideals and behavior of the coming generation... The growth of science and technology has carried us into a new age where ignorance must be replaced by knowledge, competition by cooperation, trust in Providence by careful planning and private capitalism by some form of social economy."

1933 -- The first Humanist Manifesto is published. Co-author John Dewey, the noted philosopher and educator, calls for a synthesizing of all religions and "a socialized and cooperative economic order." Co-signer C.F. Potter said in 1930:

"Education is thus a most powerful ally of humanism, and every American public school is a school of humanism. What can the theistic Sunday schools, meeting for an hour once a week, teaching only a fraction of the children, do to stem the tide of a five-day program of humanistic teaching?"

1932 -- Plan for Peace by American Birth Control League founder Margaret Sanger (1921) is published. She calls for coercive sterilization, mandatory segregation, and rehabilitative concentration camps for all "dysgenic stocks" including Blacks, Hispanics, American Indians and Catholics.

1942 -- The leftist Institute of Pacific Relations publishes Post War Worlds by P.E. Corbett:

"World government is the ultimate aim... It must be recognized that the law of nations takes precedence over national law... The process will have to be assisted by the deletion of the nationalistic material employed in educational textbooks and its replacement by material explaining the benefits of wiser association."

1946 -- The Teacher and World Government by former editor of the NEA Journal (National Education Association) Joy Elmer Morgan is published. He says:

"In the struggle to establish an adequate world government, the teacher... can do much to prepare the hearts and minds of children for global understanding and cooperation... At the very heart of all the agencies which will assure the coming of world government must stand the school, the teacher, and the organized profession."

1947 -- The American Education Fellowship, formerly the Progressive Education Association, organized by John Dewey, calls for the:

"... establishment of a genuine world order, an order in which national sovereignty is subordinate to world authority... "

October, 1947 -- NEA Associate Secretary William Carr writes in the NEA Journal that teachers should:

"... teach about the various proposals that have been made for the strengthening of the United Nations and the establishment of a world citizenship and world government."

1948 -- Walden II by behavioral psychologist B.F. Skinner proposes "a perfect society or new and more perfect order" in which children are reared by the State, rather than by their parents and are trained from birth to demonstrate only desirable behavior and characteristics. Skinner's ideas would be widely implemented by educators in the 1960s, 70s, and 80s as Values Clarification and Outcome Based Education.

1948 -- UNESCO president and Fabian Socialist, Sir Julian Huxley, calls for a radical eugenic policy in UNESCO: Its Purpose and Its Philosophy. He states:

"Thus, even though it is quite true that any radical eugenic policy of controlled human breeding will be for many years politically and psychologically impossible, it will be important for UNESCO to see that the eugenic problem is examined with the greatest care and that the public mind is informed of the issues at stake that much that is now unthinkable may at least become thinkable."

1954 -- H. Rowan Gaither, Jr., President - Ford Foundation said to Norman Dodd of the Congressional Reese Commission:

"... all of us here at the policy-making level have had experience with directives... from the White House... . The substance of them is that we shall use our grant-making power so as to alter our life in the United States that we can be comfortably merged with the Soviet Union." [See also excellent analysis of this at http://www.e-files.org/archive/edition10.html . Great index here: THE TRUTH ABOUT EDUCATION http://www.e-files.org/archive/index.html ]

1954 -- Senator William Jenner said:

****"Today the path to total dictatorship in the United States can be laid by strictly legal means, unseen and unheard by the Congress, the President, or the people... outwardly we have a Constitutional government. We have operating within our government and political system, another body representing another form of government, a bureaucratic elite which believes our Constitution is outmoded and is sure that it is the winning side.... All the strange developments in the foreign policy agreements may be traced to this group who are going to make us over to suit their pleasure.... This political action group has its own local political support organizations, its own pressure groups, its own vested interests, its foothold within our government, and its own propaganda apparatus."

1959 -- The Mid-Century Challenge to U.S. Foreign Policy is published, sponsored by the Rockefeller Brothers' Fund. It explains that the U.S.:

"... cannot escape, and indeed should welcome... the task which history has imposed on us. This is the task of helping to shape a new world order in all its dimensions -- spiritual, economic, political, social."

1964 -- Taxonomy of Educational Objectives, Handbook II is published. Author Benjamin Bloom states:

"... a large part of what we call 'good teaching' is the teacher's ability to attain affective objectives through challenging the students' fixed beliefs."

His Outcome-Based Education (OBE) method of teaching would first be tried as Mastery Learning in Chicago schools. After five years, Chicago students' test scores had plummeted causing outrage among parents. OBE would leave a trail of wreckage wherever it would be tried and under whatever name it would be used. At the same time, it would become crucial to globalists for overhauling the education system to promote attitude changes among school students.

1964 -- Visions of Order by Richard Weaver is published. He describes:

"progressive educators as a 'revolutionary cabal' engaged in 'a systematic attempt to undermine society's traditions and beliefs.'"

1970 -- Education and the mass media promote world order. In Thinking About A New World Order for the Decade 1990, author Ian Baldwin, Jr. asserts that:

"... the World Law Fund has begun a worldwide research and educational program that will introduce a new, emerging discipline -- world order -- into educational curricula throughout the world... and to concentrate some of its energies on bringing basic world order concepts into the mass media again on a worldwide level."

1973 -- Humanist Manifesto II is published:

"The next century can be and should be the humanistic century... we stand at the dawn of a new age... a secular society on a planetary scale.... As non-theists we begin with humans not God, nature not deity... we deplore the division of humankind on nationalistic grounds.... Thus we look to the development of a system of world law and a world order based upon transnational federal government.... The true revolution is occurring."

1975 -- In Congress, 32 Senators and 92 Representatives sign A Declaration of Interdependence, written by historian Henry Steele Commager. The Declaration states that:

"we must join with others to bring forth a new world order... Narrow notions of national sovereignty must not be permitted to curtail that obligation."

Congresswoman Marjorie Holt refuses to sign the Declaration saying:

"It calls for the surrender of our national sovereignty to international organizations. It declares that our economy should be regulated by international authorities. It proposes that we enter a 'new world order' that would redistribute the wealth created by the American people."

1975 -- Retired Navy Admiral Chester Ward, former Judge Advocate General of the U.S. Navy and former CFR member, writes in a critique that the goal of the CFR is the "submergence of U. S. sovereignty and national independence into an all powerful one-world government... " [ see Myron Fagan's Illuminati and the Council on Foreign Relations. Within see three world wars planned.]

1977 -- The Trilateral Connection appears in the July edition of Atlantic Monthly. Written by Jeremiah Novak, it says:

"For the third time in this century, a group of American schools, businessmen, and government officials is planning to fashion a New World Order... "

1987 -- The Secret Constitution and the Need for Constitutional Change is sponsored in part by the Rockefeller Foundation. Some thoughts of author Arthur S. Miller are:

"... a pervasive system of thought control exists in the United States... the citizenry is indoctrinated by employment of the mass media and the system of public education... people are told what to think about... the old order is crumbling... Nationalism should be seen as a dangerous social disease... A new vision is required to plan and manage the future, a global vision that will transcend national boundaries and eliminate the poison of nationalistic solutions... a new Constitution is necessary."

1991 -- Author Linda MacRae-Campbell publishes How to Start a Revolution at Your School in the publication In Context. She promotes the use of "change agents" as "self-acknowledged revolutionaries" and "co-conspirators."

October 30, 1991: -- President Gorbachev at the Middle East Peace Talks in Madrid states:

"We are beginning to see practical support. And this is a very significant sign of the movement towards a new era, a new age... We see both in our country and elsewhere... GHOSTS OF THE OLD THINKING....WHEN WE RID OURSELVES OF THEIR PRESENCE WE WILL BE BETTER ABLE TO MOVE TOWARD A NEW WORLD ORDER... relying on the relevant mechanisms of the United Nations."

Elsewhere, in Alexandria, Virginia, Elena Lenskaya, Counsellor to the Minister of Education of Russia, delivers the keynote address for a program titled, Education for a New World Order.

1995 -- The State of the World Forum took place in the fall of this year, sponsored by the Gorbachev Foundation located at the PRESIDIO IN SAN FRANCISCO. [That's our former military base over-looking the water. That's where a bunch of Luciferian pedophiles molested a lot of children. I understand the former communist dictator rents these fancy digs for $1 a year. It is from here he spews the enviro-communist agenda for taking over the lands of the whole world through environmental red tape. The trouble with 'Dan': his lands didn't go out enough for him.] Foundation President Jim Garrison chairs the meeting of who's-whos from around the world including Margaret Thatcher, Maurice Strong, George Bush, Mikhail Gorbachev and others. Conversation centers around the oneness of mankind and the coming global government. However, the term "global governance" is now used in place of "new world order" since the latter has become a political liability, being a lightning rod for opponents of global government. - excerpts from A CHRONOLOGICAL HISTORY OF THE NEW WORLD ORDER by D.L. Another thing about those 'physical' exams, you can bet they will include psychological exams. That way they can label even more of us as psychologically impaired, force-drug us, and declare us and anyone in our households unsuitable for possessing arms. They have been trying to disarm even (especially) veterans under this scheme. They want TOTAL control over our lives. Witness what is happening to Terri Schiavo.

The state of Florida took a 5-year old girl [Rilya Wilson] from her foster home for a 'psychological exam', and she never returned. They never even noticed she was missing for over a year, although the state is supposed to check on each child ONCE A MONTH. Increased funding to the tune of millions of dollars still finds over a hundred kids 'lost in DHS space' in Florida. These are the people who want to control YOUR child. [I wrote this before I read what I post below.]
___________________________________________________________

Now, I was just reviewing the Terri Schiavo threads, and several people commented on the dictatorship of judges. I remembered reading a website recently that covered a lot of subjects [for this is an all-encompassing battle we are in, and everything is related]. The man from the website had mentioned something called Justice 2020 among other things, so I went looking. I came upon a site he is affiliated with, and I think we should all take a closer look at it. Maybe you are familiar with it; it was news to me. Anyway, we may take away quite a few pointers on how to deal with this assault on our freedoms.

One of the pages in particular was pretty horrifying, and conjurred up images of recent events in Iraq, only this time it's not with Iraqi adults, but American kids. I have only just started reading all of these pages, but in light of all that's happening, I didn't want to wait to share it with you. HiTech, I believe this could very well have a relationship to Terri's case.
