If he runs for Gov i predict a landslide.

This may dampen the talk from Strayhorn and Hutchison about running against him in 06. We'll see.

He would get my vote, he is tough. If he runs for Gov i predict a landslide.

Well, he ought to win, again, (he's already governor, you know), but Kay Bailey's been hinting at retiring and running for governor.

I hope she doesn't.

Note the date on the article...

The Final plan wasn't passed and approved until late in the year...... Nov. or so.

Fabulous news. We still have to wait to see what the Supremes do in the Jubilerer case, which should be announced within a week or so.

I notice that thread is dated July 4.

I think that's the second of three maps, the last resulting from meetings with Tom DeLay.

I could be wrong about Frost, but I think he's been redistricted out.

Yes, i know he is the Gov. But he took it when Bush went to white white house and wasnt actually elected as Gov, right?

This time We can vote for him, and those who run against him cant say he wasnt elected. heheh

Big grin on my face! Thanks for the ping. I bet Chet Edwards is wetting his pants about now. He thought the race card would work. He's been screaming that the newly redrawn Waco/Temple/Killeen district would disenfranchise minority voters. What he really meant was he doesn't stand a prayer in hell of being re-elected in the new district. I wrote him a while back and asked how anybody would be disenfranchised since everybody will still be allowed to vote. They just won't all be bunched together for him anymore.

Frost in now in the 6th Joe Barton under the court approved redistricting plan..... which votes about 60% or so Republican in Statewide races.... Don't look for him to survive in it. He may take a shot at some other district.

There was only a partial dissent.

For the curious, here is the full court ruling:

He just won election in 2002 over Tony "the Tiger" Sanchez.

Any chance this means we can get rid of Queen Shelia Jackson-Lee?

Yes there will be more, maybe 6..... I can't remember them all but Turner Dist. 2, is gone..... Lampson District 9 is gone..... Doggetts old district is out and he's now running in another one. Hall just changed to the Republican Party. Frost we've mentioned.

So let me get this straight... The Pubbies hold every statewide office and the majorities in the Texas House and Senate, and yet the Democrats were insisting that there was nothing wrong with the current districts that gave them a majority of the US House seats with a 17-15 advantage...

Sounds like most people in Texas are voting Republican. Now they will get a chance to do that for Congress as well.

Youre right, Perry won 2002. Thanks for the correction. (goofy look)

At this point it looks like we can do about anything as a Republican state, including sending queen sheila packing.
